Soucy was communicative, then he became shit.
Loving this pickup though, he was a top 2 dude in Pittsburg.
He's averaged over 22 minutes with the Pens the last year and a half, led them in average TOI on the PK over that period, and has posted decent possession stats at ES while starting mainly in the DZ, if he can do that here and be a solid #3 guy, and they re-sign him, it's what they've been looking for since the summer.
The final verdict on the two deals can't really be determined until they use the additional cap space. If that goes towards a decent top 6 forward who's younger than Miller and can provide some goals and physicality, then you're getting:
MP, Chytil, Mancini, O'Connor, a top 6 forward
for
Miller, Heinen, VD, Brannstrom, Dorrington, and Fernstrom, plus whatever they add to get the top 6 forward.
It doesn't look too bad at all, especially with Miller turning 32 next month with several years left on his contract. They are going to miss Miller's competitive fire and production, at least for now, but the 1st they gave up to the Pens is what could really come back to haunt them.
Chytil is a huge risk injury wise, and they had to package out two UFA's they should never have signed in the first place, but solid #3 D come at a premium, and if Mancini works out, a big, physical, mobile, defensive RHD on the third pairing is a nice add. Teams that stockpile D assets also have way more options in the trade market, they need to keep adding them any way they can.
Now do EP40. I don't think he's safe, and I'm good with that.
