Sens (&sabres) dont need Dobson at all, either do we though..

So it's gotta be more than dobson and barzal is the most attractive piece but then we have no Centers, and NYI have Nelson, horvat, & EP, makes no sense either.

3rd team has to be in the mix but which one and for who is hard to guess.
The Sens have Zub, Jensen, 35 to start next season, Hamonic, and Bernard-Docker down the right side, they definitely have a use for Dobson.

Do any teams intimidate other teams anymore? Maybe Florida? How many of the top teams in the league would you call intimidating?

I think having a bunch of two-way soldiers that either have size or play fearlessly is important, but I think we already have a decent amount of guys who do that. Obviously getting some Tkachuk or Tom Wilson sort of player would be great, but I think skill at forward is easily a bigger issue than size/toughness at this point.
Combining big body skill is what we're lacking - and I probably should have used a lighter word than intimidate but a team that when you know you're going to play you're going to have to fight and scrape and bleed for every inch. You know you're going to be in for a war especially when talking about a playoff series.

A team like you said Florida or vegas .. i mean sherwood is going to help in the grease department.. with joshua if hes goimg but we dont have much else now that miller is gone up front. Hoglander i guess a bit.. it is a huge element we are missing

Sens have Sanderson and Chabot signed long term with Yakemchuk coming, they dont need or want Dobson.

Why are the Islander looking to move Dobson?

Makes no sense really...big, young, RHD and very good. Its not like they have an abundance of high-end puck movers, unless they think Tony Deangelo is some sort of replacement. Unless Dobson has made it known to management that he wants out, they really shouldn't be moving him.

Lou Lamoriello is old and has a very very very specific way of how things have to be done. That's about the long and short of it.

Purely a guess but I think he sees Dobson's powerplay production as replaceable and would rather allocate the cap space needed to extend him towards more scoring.

Sanderson and Chabot play the left side. Yakemchuk was just drafted, I doubt very much if they're penciling him in as a top 4 D right away.

Adding Dobson for the sens makes as much sense as pairing Dobson with Hughes or Dahlin, its redundant. Not a need for the sens, canucks, sabres, nyr, avs, etc, makes the dcore unbalanced.

I would see it more as a Hughes-Hronek pairing, Sanderson's two-way game is very good, but it is a Travis Green coached team and that type of pairing likely wouldn't work for him anyway.

I mean, when he ultimately controlled where he would play, he was noncommittal, and when there were rumours he might be traded to Buffalo, he wanted to stay. Context is key.

I don’t think he has ever said he has not wanted to play for the Canucks, I think he has only said he wants to win…if you asked Hughes right now what do you think he would say?

Maybe it does make sense if they do a similar thing where they acquire Dobson and immediately flip him to a team for a young top center. This would be the wildest period as a Canucks fan ever

Two other factors of varying magnitudes are firstly, doubtful anyone is outbidding Minnesota for Boeser on July first so what's his tdl rental value..?

Secondly, the Canucks still have over Twelve Million TDL cap space available so literally anything is possible.

1st and prospect.. or 2 2nds

I can see it being something like Dobson and a 1st for Pettersson, then we have a deal in place to use those two assets to help out the top 6.

If we are getting Barzal and Dobson for Pettersson we have to be sending something decent back… would they really accept Boeser as a pending UFA?

I don't know why everyone thinks Dobson isn't a fit. That right side has been an absolute nightmare even with Hronek and even if Myers keeps up not playing like a crazy person they should be trying to insulate his minutes.

EP40 has been fine defensively this year but is pretty much a ghost on offense and it feels to me like the team has decided they need to get much faster up front (thus Chytil and O'Conner).

I could see them moving out Willander and EP40 as part of a deal for Barzal and Dobson. Canucks re-sign Dobson for 8 years, $7.5 mil.

The difference between Dobson re-signed around $7 mil per + Barzal at $9 mil vs EP40 and anyone else in that 2nd pair d-spot is gonna be insignificant, a couple of mil.

Top 4 D locked up for a few years (until Hughes) at $28 mil which is great for where the cap is going.
Myers makes it $31 mil and then you've got the EPs and Mancinis of the team.

If you keep Lankinen around $3.5 mil with Demko around $5.5 thats $9.

Assuming Brock is also moved or leaves and the Canucks focused on speed, re-sign Suter and O'Conner around that $2.5/$ mil range each that would leave them at about $40 mil in forwards spent with 2 main spots to fill, both in that top 6 forward area to replace a Boeser and add to the offense. Assuming Lekarrimaki can take Boeser's spot, you just need one guy and you'd have over $7 mil to add them (much more after 2025/26).

Team would look something like:

XXX - Barzal- Lekkerimaki
Debrusk - Chytil - Garland
Joshua - Suter - Sherwood
O'Conner - Blueger - Aman/whoever

Hughes - Dobson
M Pettersson - Hronek
E Petterson - Myers
Mynio/Mancini etc

Demko/Lankinen
