theory? more like I don't doubt that everyone Dahliwahl reached out to in the canucks org believe Petey to be not injured, i just question their competence on the issue based on previous track record.
Hodgson -> can't figure out he had a back injury
Dickinson -> didn't even f***ing know he had a broken hand
Pearson -> f***ed up so hard with his rehab the PA had to step in
Demko -> f***ed up his rehab so hard he got a new unique injury
Mik -> the only team in sports history to recommend a player to play with a torn ACL
Tell me why I am not justified to question the competency of our medical team?
Ya, but my point is, this wouldn't be a situation where management/doctors missed some injury that was unknown to them or the player. This wouldn't be comparable at all since Pettersson/management/doctors already knew of this injury, and identified it. So, again, the theory is that everyone just kind of forgot about the injury but yet it is still significantly affecting Pettersson, which seems very far fetched to me.
It's incorrect to frame Dhaliwal as right or wrong here. He's relaying what he's been told. Drance too has relayed what he has been told. But Drance has been careful in saying he doesn't know. No confirmation. Sat Shah too has relayed he doesn't know. (Explicitly qualified)
My point is that Dhaliwal isn't necessarily 100% credible. He could just have bad sources. We don't know who he spoke to with the Canucks, or whether he spoke to anyone with the Canucks. He could have got the information second hand.
Management didn't even think Pettersson was injured at the year end presser.
I agree that is a bit puzzling. It may be that it was such a minor injury that management was never made aware. But you would think they were aware of all players' injury statuses.
And remind me, when has management and/or coach openly spoken about Pettersson's injury status within season? With Riccio?
If his injury is acceleration related and Pettersson largely depends upon acceleration, you have your answer.
My post was questioning the theory that the Canucks medical staff / management somehow don't currently know of an existing injury that actually has existed for like a calendar year, and which has been acknowledged and discussed by the player, the coach and the media, and which is currently a signficant factor in their highest paid player scoring at half his expected rate. Like, its a wild theory in my view.
I get that medical staff, and by extension, a management team, could miss and not know of a new injury to a player, for whatever reason, but that's not what we are talking about right now.
doubt lou would take petey as the centerpiece for either of those guys, let alone both.
dobson only makes sense not as a backup, but in exchange for hughes *if* they *know* quinn is walking to ny/nj in two years anyways. barzal + dobson should then certainly be on the table value wise, and i'd still want them to add
something like - barzal + dobson + romanov for hughes + soucy
debrusk - barzal - boeser
suter - pettersson - sherwood
joshua - chytil - garland
hoglander - blueger - doc
m. pettersson - dobson
romanov - hronek
e. pettersson - myers
demko
lankinen
and even that feels like a loss because we'd lose a top-5 player in the league, but it's the only way to even remotely salvage things if quinn does want out no matter what. and i'd rather trade petey straight up for norris first before doing the above if it means quinn stays haha.
If Hughes wants out it should be a tear down rebuild, and I am looking for younger/better future pieces.
