I like Ehlers a lot. Think he'd pair well with Petey, can carry the puck through the neutral zone, incredible on the PP. AFP's projected contract for him is 6 x $7.5M which I'd do in a heartbeat.
I wonder if Winnipeg would consider a Boeser for Ehlers swap at the deadline if they are told by Ehlers that he won't re-sign. Boeser probably wouldn't re-sign, but who knows, better chance than none.I like Ehlers a lot. Think he'd pair well with Petey, can carry the puck through the neutral zone, incredible on the PP. i think realistically teams will go to players and say hey here is the comparable in terms of cap% and this is what we are going to give you. I imagine for someone who has not gone PPG, 8-8.5M is probably where they sit cap% wise. Really bad napkin math, like probably 7.5M for wingers below PPG in the flat cap world. 8.5M would be like a 15% increase which is reasonable, you can argue it should be 20% increase and that could be more realistic. But 12M is like almost double, that's not going to happen with guys like Ehlers.
He’s also a good playmaker on the PP. Would absolutely take him on the team.For starters, Ehlers is a point per game player.
He's been playing 3rd line ice time and limited power play time in Winnipeg the last couple of seasons and that has dampened his numbers. He's generating 2.51 even strength points / 60 over the last 3 seasons. Thats 17th in the league and almost the same as Pettersson. JT Miller has generated 2.11 even strength points / 60.
If he was a center I'd be trying to trade him for Pettersson 1 for 1 right now.

…
Dobson makes no sense for this team. Assume he would cost Pettersson or Willander, neither of which makes sense for this team. Guess if Lou was going to do something nuts like Barzal and Dobson for Pettersson, sure, but otherwise you have too much cap spent on the defense with no path to improving the offence.
Isles. Probably need Willander involved.TO VAN:

I don't think you know what 'replacement level' means. Certainty we've seen many "any NHL wing" typed shoved into the top 6 in the past and failed to produce.almost any nhl wing can get 20 goals and 50 points if given top line minutes and top power play opportunity. boeser brings NOTHING else. that's replacement level
EP = Petey
MP = D Petey
EP2 = Young Petey
He has never been a PPG player until maybe this season. I say maybe because he is currently 1 point over PPG.For starters, Ehlers is a point per game player.

He’s talking about Noah Dobson. Not sure how credible he is but he does have a large following.
Boeser
O’Connor
- Has been told negotiations are still quiet
- Some think the Canucks might keep him for a playoff run
- Thinks the Canucks want Boeser at a 5-6 year term
Lankinen
- Teams in the East were trying to trade for him
- Going to try and re-sign him
- Very quiet with him

I'd do that for a Calli/Philly road trip.i think the scouting community is organizing an informal get together under the guise of work.
i think i would do that for like every nhl city that is not winnipeg and salt lake city.I'd do that for a Calli/Philly road trip.
hey what's Couturier's underlying numbers like? 5 years left at 7, but does he make sense with retained salary? I understand Torts is trying to bully him off the team.
If you have Dobson/Hronek in your top-four you probably feel comfortable trading away Willander as there won’t be meaningful minutes for him in the next 6-8 years.Isles. Probably need Willander involved.
PDG, Mikheyev, Lafferty, etc have all had extended stays in the Canucks top 6 and failed to accomplish anything. Kuzmenko had one great season and is now to his third team...
