He’s basically 1999 Mark Messier at ES and bleeds goals because his motor is broken and his production is going to crater without Kucherov on the PP.

His ES production last year was worse than Dakota Joshua.

Stay the hell away.
Phil Kessel 2018-19. You hope JR and Allvin can see this a mile away.

Yeah he'd be a throw in, not the main piece.

If we can't land any big fish tomorrow, and since this team's window is the next 3 years, and STL and Utah want to be competitive (meaning we likely can't extract any of their top 6 forwards if they achieve that), we should be hoping like hell that our top prospects have big years, Ottawa sucks again, Brady requests a trade, and we give up a haul to get him
Pods salary/roster spot needs an upgrade big time, preferably an elc, and our cup chances increase significantly. (McGroarty pls allvin pls)

My early conspiracy theory is if Ottawa is bad again and Florida loses Reinhart (to us) and whoever else, Brady only wants to go play with his brother in the sun.

Reinhart is younger, more durable, and vastly superior defensively. And has C utility.

Guentzel is probably a slightly better bet to light it up in year 1 of their contracts but on overall value for 7 years I’d take Reinhart.

I guess Reinhart would have more utility as they age as he could probably be put in a more defensive role, but while neither are fast I worry about his foot speed more. He’s a smart player so that helps but so is Guentzel. For me, I value the fact that Guentzel’s more productive 5v5 historically

To be fair, the team could use his PP help. It’s not just Kucherov, he’s still an elite PP finisher. But he’d have to be paid like a PP specialist and I’m not sure that fits with the 5v5 lineup

Looks like we are out on Guentzel (and Tanev). We won't head into the season with 12M in space, definitely should be interesting.

Lot’s of quality top 6 wingers available, don’t have to sign a Superstar. Will be nice to have cap space moving forward as well to resign Boeser and have more cap flexibility. Better to have 3-4 quality top 6 wingers than just 1 or 2.

Sobif both reinhard and guentzel want to come to van, who would you prefer
I ain't picky. But Guentzel, he is faster, more dynamic I think his game will age better. Reinhart defensively is overrated does have utility of being able to play center but I think he plays too slow paced and we already have too many player that play like that. I think he is 65-75 point player, this year was anomaly and career year he won't get close again.

I cant get over how bad Carolina has fumbled Guentzel and likely a bunch of their players this offseason
Getting a third round pick for just his rights is really good. But if a player is leaving, not much you can do. It's like saying the Canucks fumbled it with Lindholm.

I wonder about this team's tearing themselves apart to open cap space being a canary in the cold mine for free agents. How the Lighting/Guentzal thing plays out will validate my thinking here. Joining the Lightning without Stamkos and being the reason there's no more Tampa in Stamkos is a weird situation to decide to step into. Vs Vancouver who mostly able to keep it's team together and has a seamless spot to join.

I might just be coping tho!

Reinhart's entire family are big members at Hollyburn in West Van, probably the ritziest sports club in all of Canada. That's where the boys all played their 12-14 year old seasons if I'm not mistaken. Paul is in there all the time.

For what it's going to take to sign him, I would much rather have Guentzel. But if he would take 9.5x7 to come home...in our position, we would seriously need to consider that.
