Canucks & NHL News, Rumours, and & Fantasy GM | Much Ado About Nothing

Wait so trying to shift the discussion away from the bozos - what's everyone's call on the UFAs?

AFP analytics has Boeser at Boeser at 7x8.7 and Suter at 4x3.8

Assuming your "best case" for this team happens, would that mean you sign them or are you trading them in the next month prior to the tdl?

Ive got bad news and really bad news for you, if you'd like. Both would receive a twinge more than that on open market.

You can't keep both, so I'd go with the cheaper option.

Canucks reportedly liked Ross Colton before he was traded to Colorado. He's basically a 40-point middle-6 utility forward signed for 2 more years at 4m. Has a full-NTC this season, though. Maybe you could get someone like Lehkonen but, once again, has some trade protection and injury concerns.

I can't see the Avalanche flipping Necas.

I'm not a fan of Mittelstadt and Girard. I do like what I've seen of Parssinen and think he'd be an interesting addition even though his value is very low. Colorado doesn't have as lot of draft picks (no 1st this season but two 2nds, no 2nds next season but one 1st). Their prospect pool is barren apart from Ritchie and Gulyayev.
Colorado doesn't have much to offer unless it's a real overpayment.

adam boqvist for free on waivers

shoots right and could replace juulsen/desharnais. is he playable?
Might as well just call Brannstrom back up.

If Florida is looking for a 3rd pair dman, they are in luck!

Desharnais and the greatest of them all, Juulsen, are available!

We will even take future considerations!
A boqvist for whoever trade makes plenty of sense, so obviously didn't happen. Probably indicates the team likes juulsen and Desharnais way too much unfortunately..

The only deal to really talk about in my mind is Mittelstadt and the conditional 1st. That f***ing sucks losing Miller for just that, but the time to do something is now. Otherwise we're stuck with Miller's sunset contract, which has like 3 years of pure OEL potential.

If we can pry the 1st out, the deal should be done. We can flip Colorado's 1st or our own for this year. I prefer to flip ours this year rather than Colorado's 26. Just make the condition a choice the Avs make between their 26 and 27. The later the year, the more value it has.

ritchie is probably a top 5 prospect outside the nhl right now. i think there's zero chance colorado move him for miller unless vancouver take all of colorado's bad salary in the process or add significantly

I love love love Ritchie. I think that might be a wildly popular opinion, though. I don't think he's coming back sadly :(

I would imagine a win for us would be getting Ritchie out of this deal with the Avs (not sure Avs would move him but that's the piece we should be targeting)

If COL is looking for a centre, they probably don't view Mittlestadt as a solution. But is he a cap dump? No, I don't think they're there yet.

So it's an older player with issues for the younger player with different issues and B-level futures. Their compensation may be the two 2nds this year or a 1st in 2026.

@Reverend Mayhem Is that the rumoured return? Mitts and a conditional 2026 1st?

They have nothing else...
If they want miller and practically guaranteed three to five cup runs, while dumping a bad contract for an enormous upgrade, they've gotta pay up. Or lose out whatever, we can move either elsewhere.

Mitts and a 26 1st is a hot garbage return we'd never accept, thats basically nothing for a 1C.

I'd go back to Drury before I took that deal...Hell, I'd keep Miller before I made that deal.

Everything I say can be taken as my own speculation, if I had real information I would probably head my post off with a disclaimer.

^ That's what those Friedman types need to do. Make that their bio or something.

if they move ritchie they can probably do better than miller though. ritchie for miller would be like the canucks moving willander for marcus pettersson or something

Absolutely zero argument from me. I don't see why management views this situation as untenable. Only because the team started to fall off, which, if we haven't learned from last year, we took the wrong lessons away from last year as a team. This year was always going to be a regression.

Understood. I took that as someone like Dhaliwal or Friedman saying it. Have they/Has anyone?

Let them try in that case, we're not forced to do anything, and idk who else is available that could possibly be a better fit for the Avalanche.

But plenty of teams hella stupid for not pulling a hurricanes here already.

No worries. I'm really not an insider, I'm just a dude who instead of healthy relationships chose to watch hockey and play guitar. I do those two things pretty f***ing good, that's about it. I'm about as starstruck meeting some of the people I have as anyone else.

sam bennett, nazem kadri, brock nelson? i'm not saying they are better than miller but colorado has options here. holding your breath and demanding ritchie isn't gonna get it done imo

Clearly Colorado wants to get rid of Mits.

If the Nucks are taking him on, I want Ritchie. End of.

If Colorado is worried about their pipeline by trading Ritchie, maybe you add someone like Raty to the deal?

I'd also view Mits as someone who could be flipped somewhere else. Possibly for defensive help.

Who's playing center on this team? You're about to make 18k+ people really upset watching losing hockey for more years. Just saying, you said it yourself in too many words - Ritchie for Miller straight up will be their final offer. Hell, I'd take Mitts and Ritchie, but they'd have to be big dumb to offer that, we'd have to ask.

None of those options are in-season, apart from Nelson. I agree with you that the likely hood of Ritchie being traded is extremely low, though. That's why I don't really see the Avalanche as a great trading partner.

Maybe something including Gulyayev and he's flipped with draft compensation.
