Is that what you think I said?
So if Miller isn't hard on Petey, then what is it? I used a very basic example of the possible situation between Miller and Petey. Miller can be saying or doing any number of things to Petey that can be substituted for "you suck".

Fair. Do you think Hughes has a say? I'm not certain but now I'm starting to think he should if they're trying to keep him happy and wanting to re-sign here.

I would assume Hughes has been consulted throughout. I would suspect he just wants an indication they're going to resolve the situation and try to remain competitive throughout. I doubt he's thinking of it in terms of his contract quite yet, as that's pretty far off in hockey years. So much can change in that time period.

Good point. More along the lines of 'at least they consulted me and valued my opinion on the situation and I felt heard.'

I wouldn't assume that, I'm sure there are a lot of guys on the team who are friendly and enjoy Miller....but I'm sure there are some who don't appreciate his personality or antics...I don't think that makes him a good or bad teammate, it just makes him an individual who some people like and others don't.
The Rangers traded him because he got into a spat with a teammate too.

And once again, the Canucks literally sent him home for a month because of an incident with team personnel. When does that ever happen? Is that not a massive red flag?

You feel free to substitute whatever you like that makes the story suit your narrative...its still meaningless because its fictional.

Yeah look, Hughes has a front-row seat. He knows better than anyone here what's going on. I assume he has also tried to help. Who knows what he thinks .... if he blames management, well he blames management. But he obviously knows what's going on and has been involved. The organization has been pretty clear their primary priority in all of this is Hughes next contract.

The fact there is a discussion about how the Canucks could/should have held onto Horvat and traded JT is a complete reflection of how much a shit show this has become.

Hell. Lets go back further.

Should have never traded for JT in the first place since two other teams were willing to let him go.

Good Lord.

I hope this ends soon but I don't see it happening.
The reason to not trade for JT in the first place was more so because they gave up an unprotected first as a team that missed the playoffs and then were falling out of the playoff bar with key injuries in 19-20 as well.

It was a bad foresight trade. Obviously he took off and went from a 2nd liner to 1st liner.

who did JT get into a spat with in new york? I can't find it
av's talked about how he wasn't mature enough.

Again, that is conjecture...this is what the team said...

“Right now, our sole focus is making sure that J.T. knows the entire organization is here to support him,” general manager Patrik Allvin said. “Out of respect for J.T., we will have no further comment at this time.”

“It's indefinite in the sense we don't know how long,” Vancouver coach Rick Tocchet said. “Respect the privacy of ‘Millsy.’ … He's a family member here, we’re going to support him.”

Again, this is a bit sensational. People are talking like there's a Westside Story dance-off between Miller and Pettersson's cliques in the dressing room. It's probably more likely a subdued situation where most of the other guys get along with both players, and it's just awkward when they're stuck in the same room together. They probably just want it resolved one way or another, so they can play hockey.
I, for one, would pay good money to see all this resolved via dance-off.

Is that what you believe is actually happening?
I have a 14 year old daughter. She's stubborn as hell. Get's it from her mother. ;). She is the first born and I have expectations of her. I want her to succeed in life. I want her to be strong, I want her to be independent. She is all of those things.

I don't berate her and tell her she sucks but I do want her to try harder from time to time. I want her to take initiative. My wife from time to time will tell me, you are being too hard on her. To me, asking her to practice her instrument a little more because she has a solo coming up in a competition is not much too ask. My daughter will say, I am trying hard, I am practicing more. In my eyes, she is not. In the eyes of others, she is doing great. I believe she is doing great as well but I believe in not settling and always trying to do your absolute best. So I do push from time to time.

Point being my daughter is Petey and I am Miller from time to time. She works much harder off of praise and a bit of a nudge once in a while to get going instead of constantly being hard on her. She is not soft or shy but when I push far too hard for things, she absolutely does shut me out.

Bruce said it before, Miller works off someone constantly down his throat and Petey does not.

Reporting has been that he got into a spat with Tocc, and then he was placed on LOA.

It's not some mental health thing or was about JT "getting help". Let's get real. There are actual designations for that in the NHL. It was not mentioned.

I hadn’t seen this before. This quote seemed telling:

I play on the edge and it’s so hard for me to relate with people that are just more relaxed because they don’t understand why. But when I talk to people that play on the edge and they’re competitive and a little tempered, they can relate. I’ve had a temper my entire life, that’s not new information.

I expect I guess perfection a lot. I know that’s a little crazy.

I think that is entirely possible, I don't know it for certain but I think its easy to make up all sorts of scenarios that might have happened...ultimately I don't think there is enough evidence there to determine whether or not Miller is a good or bad teammate.
