The team I can't figure is DET: Miller is almost exactly what they need. Where are they?

Yzerman just around the periphery and not being heavy in the mix speaks volumes here, imo.
No idea. They could use another top 6 center. They have futures for Van as well, if that was the route they wanted to take.

Janick Hansen was just on the radio and said it's not a bullying situation, if there was any sort of bullying situation, the players and org would handle it internally, no question.
What are the chances that Hansen is qualified to say whether what is happening or not, is actually bullying or not. Lol.

It’s not bullying but then they also told Miller to go on a LOA and said they were looking forward to him being a better teammate.

I have absolutely no time for "it's your fault you reacting badly to the asshole being asshole to you," defense. Lived it to many times. It leads to super toxic environments and always absolves and designed to absolve the instigator.

There's just as many spoiled brats as there are assholes in the work industry.

The problem with the the people who are defending Pettersson to this degree is that you are ignoring that if this is really what is happening, that Miller is some raging bully and Pettersson is completely innocent in all of this, then Hughes and the rest of the team are ableist's in the whole thing.

Was Horvat OK being captain while Pettersson is being bullied in the locker room? Now Hughes is OK with it too?

It's quite clear to me that this stuff aggravated after Horvat was traded 2 years ago. It was ignored last year because the team was winning. Miller could not bully Bo since he can fight quite well and would put him to sleep. They had this "cold war" type of conflict going and management choose Miller over him. Once Horvat left, Miller could do what he wanted and here we are. Once Miller is gone i'm sure we'll hear a lot about wtf he was doing behind the scenes.

I still don't think the first interview was the problem.

I think the problem was letting this marinate for this long and not dealing with this when it reached its boiling point when Miller got suspended and the teams record was decent

but hey, maybe their only offer at the time was zibanejad and a protected first. who knows.

this management had an awful first stretch, then a picture perfect year run. and then now it's been a mess again.

have to do well the remainder of this 2025 year and make the most of it. we can say oh this was all unexpected - and reaching this boiling point probably was - but they made this call with the knowledge of this circumstance to keep everything together when they could have pivoted. and that's something that you have to hold them accountable for. they had the out and they chose to trade horvat for hronek and set the direction that day.

and then your definition of if that worked depends on how you rank one of the 5 best seasons in this franchise's history relative to the clear now what they should have known in foresight is that this could all come crashing down incrediblyy quickly.

i guess you could also bring up the whole horvat decision where in a vacuum i agreed that miller was the better bet bc of higher ceiling as a player and style of game and likelihood to age better into his deal w/o falling off a cliff.

So what’s the deal with Filip Chytil? He’s definitely not on Miller’s level, but he seems like he’s got size and ability and he’s only 25. I’m guessing it’s largely the injury concerns?

I hope you're right. I feel like it's much more likely that this interview pretty significantly changes the Canucks' leverage than simply confirms what's out there.

Allvin's leverage with Miler/Pettersson has always been the threat of not moving them if the right return isn't there. Does Rutherford's coming out and saying "we can't keep both of these guys indefinitely" increase or decrease the credibility of that threat? To me, it's clearly the latter.

And to Rutherford's credit he does refer to the possibility of keeping both players in the interview, but he doesn't get to write the article or dictate what the headline is so that part doesn't get the same play in the media. But that lack of control is part of the decision to sit for the interview in the first place and to me, part of what makes it a questionable decision.

I honestly think they don’t have much intention to move Pettersson and the chatter is just to get leverage in trading Miller.

So if we move Petey and Miller then who exactly do we plan on having at 1C? Sure a Petey trade might bring back a 2C but who in the near term future could be plugged at 1C?

Yep, without the multiple concussions he's a better asset than necas.
Atleast two of them were on regular nhl/ahl physical plays, not even big hits or anything dirty.

He could legitimately be one hit or fall from LTIR indefinitely.

What pisses me off more than anything right now is this - I was f***ing out. I had stopped being invested. I was just numb to it all. And then they had to go and have that start they had last season, and some playoff magic, and they pulled me back in.

Only to do what they've done since I was a little kid...perpetually hurt their fanbase.

If after losing Zadorov and Lindholm and picking up the objectively lessen dmen you thought this season would be like last, i think that’s on you. Also, they’re competing for a playoff spot. It’s not the end of the world.

I wouldn’t so much call them concerns as massive warning flags. Look at his games played and injury history over the last 3 seasons.
