Norris is a great talent but I'm more concerned about his shoulder than chytils concussions.

Pay whatever it takes within reason to get Batherson along with him and then we're really talking.
I’d be totally fine with a 1st for Norris if it helps at all with retaining Hughes long term.

Hell, go totally nuts and get Norris + Tkachuk for a Pettersson package and have all of Hughes best friends on the team.

This is fun!!

I think they may have finally fixed the defense. 6 legit NHL D-men (Hughes, Hronek, Pettersson, Myers, Soucey, Forbort) all playing in their correct spots in the line-up, two good prospect on each side (D-Petey and Willander) and a wild card who could bust but could also become a serious contributor in Mancini. The only remaining if is, if they resign Pettersson.

They have cap space to resign Lankinen and extend Demko if that's desired.

There is a big hole in the top 6 forward group. That should be their entire focus right now.

No doubt in the short term they lost the Miller trade (I'm reserving judgement on what it looks like in two years). But at least they did what they needed to do in addressing the biggest issue, which was on D.

And, shout out to @Vector for being the MVP of these Boards.

so two things happens next

ep40 gets a chance to show this is his team
canucks trade ep40

both are concerning.

the ep40 post-game interview last night gives me serious pause about option 1. i am not sure he can carry the weight of having driven miller off the team.

Anyone surprised Hoglander made it through the madness? I wonder if he'll do better with Miller gone too, he's tight with Petey right?
not surprised at all. the way he has played he's a cap dump right now.

I’d rather Cozens than Norris.

But I guess mgmt wants to build a team where 2 of their Top 3 Cs are one hit away from retiring.

Both Norris and Chytil are good when healthy but they never are.

Rather target someone like Hayton in Utah but we really don’t have anything they would want in return.

I want the pressure. I want the hard.

Canucks don’t really have a lot of trade assets. Couple of B-Tier defensive prospects, two blue chippers that I really can’t see them trading, Hoglander, and some draft picks. Biggest asset might their ability to take on a bad contract in order.

Like say a Josh Norris or Dylan Cozens but at minimal cost because you can take on the full salary. Lawson Crouse would be a fun buy-low candidate.

i like this deal a lot more than the pens/canucks deal. similar cost for dallas and while ceci isn't as good as pettersson adding granlund would have filled a huge hole in the lineup
Wtf Granlund is a uber bandaid solution. If we get him and extend him, everyone will question the sanity of this management group.

Ya, that’s probably what we are looking at.

i know people spitballed the whole ep for brady thing a while ago and at the time i wasn’t for it but if there’s some weird packages to be made there that also see us getting a C back, you could probably get me interested given the focus on retaining hughes idk
