Good, any further supply of 25+ g / 50+ pt guys making it to market is good for the Canucks purposes.

Biggest moves have been DeMelo re-signing and Red Wings dumping Walman with a draft pick for some reason. These GMs need to get drunk at some casino and start getting crazy.

Yup, exactly, when you see a player rapidly improving you don't wait it out and have all risk off the table before you sign a player. That's when you overpay, at best you pay fair value.

If you pay fair value to every player on your team, you have an average team.

This management did the same with Petey, was shocked when Frank said he doesn't believe the canucks offered Petey a legit contract in the offseason. They waited for Petey to score a 2nd 100 pt season, then panicked and realized it would take 12+ (after Nylander signed his deal) and signed Petey to 11.6.

This management has done some good pro scouting moves, but has made some really weird moves.

They either way too patient and slow, or they go really aggressive and make a really poor decision to acquire a player who doesn't even fit like Lindholm - and overpay.

Was scary they were willing to double down on their mistake and offered Lindholm 7 x 7. That was going to suck. good thing Lindholm rejected it.
C'mon man you weren't this bullish on even giving Joshua any term back in February now with the 20/20 hindsight glasses on they should have signed him and you're criticizing them.

And again do you think his agent would have even entertained that going into free agency producing the way he was that they just take 2 million or whatever you're suggesting.

Some interesting ideas bantered about this afternoon.

If Canucks strike out on Guentzel, can they become a 3rd party broker for a team that would need to do some roster" surgery" in order to fit in Guentzel.

For example, If Guentzel wants to play in Vegas, Vegas would need to shed cap, can we get someone like Barbashev/Karlsson at a discount to help alleviate their cap issues.

Basically weaponizing our cap space to fill our needs rather than using the cap space to go after the secondary market and the likes of Tofolli etc.....

Vegas would be crazy to trade Karlsson.

but to your question, yes that would be something the canucks should consider.

Im not as opposed to Toffoli as some are. Mainly hes a smart player who has shown decent chemistry with Petey, if term/cap low not a bad plan B.

Ah yes, we can be someone’s ‘Nate Schmidt’ dumping ground again. That worked out so well for us last time.

Ya Karlsson likely not but you never know with Vegas....They are apparently in on Guentzel and Marner yet they have like 2mil in cap space.... They are as aggressive as it comes when in regards to roster construction.

Would love Barbashev on wing for Petey. Hes the hard nosed, forechecker, puck retriever that I think would do well with Petey.

3C checked off...... Might be looking to upgrade that again mid season so that Bleuger can be the 4C.

It will work for now , heading into the season.

The Canucks have a ton people in the front office and a lot of pro scouts. I don’t think they give a shit what Ray Ferraro thinks.
Cammi Granato (Ray Ferraro's wife) has a lot of pull with the Canucks and if he told her that player X that the Canucks are interested in is sucking/struggling or player X is someone who is going to break out i wouldn't see any reason why with Ray's history that wouldn't be info that Cammi brings to the table.

From a professional standpoint i doubt it's projected that way as Cammi wouldn't just be saying "well Ray told me blah blah blah" but i bet it has some degree of influence helping her form some of her opinions.

Why would Cammi need Ray to point that out for her?

Blueger done.

Now we need Mikheyev gone, Joshua at <3.5, Myers at 2, Zad at 4.5, Dillon at 2, Silovs at <1, and a stud W for EP at whatever is left.

C'mon you cowards, get it done.
