So you have zero interest in actually making this team better going forward than? We’re talking about a player producing absolutely nothing right now, that has rejected a completely reasonable contract extension. But you’d rather lose him for nothing because somehow it looks better to Quinn to keep a passenger for a few weeks rather than actually attempt to improve the longterm performance of the team.
Certainly see as a fan what your beef is but the owner has doubled the cost of a box in 5yrs the lower bowl pricing has just escalated by as much as 40% and all these people who want to see the last 20 games and potential of playoffs and paid for these tickets from 9k a seat to 250k for a box might disagree with you. And how does throwing in the towel look to get the commitment for most of these corporate partners to re invest prior to the unknown of the off season

So Aquilini wants either a premium asset to explain the loss of BB6 or he's not happy.

Hughes and the team losing Boeser are not gonna be happy about it

Tocchet and the coaching staff seeing management weaken things further as they have done an amazing job keeping the team in the race are not gonna be happy

Management has to balance these things but ultimately do what's best for the team and fans. The priority is fans with skin in the game though

Not sure why you reference Boeser as a passenger and player who does nothing and then think we should get premium assets. You might think the offer was reasonable but 40 million vs the 68 million Konecny just got is a bigger gap than there is for the players.

We have completed the brick building of the defense. Alvin is finishing up the cardboard construction of the forwards. We will be fine if it doesn’t rain.
Weird talking as if this isn’t one of those seasons where everything has not gone wrong.

The media needs to ask Patrik what has changed from 2 years ago when he said ‘we can’t afford to lose guys in free agency for nothing’ (paraphrasing) to now when we are hovering around a playoff spot, Yes but are with injuries to 2 core pieces and a upcoming difficult schedule. I don’t think you lose much by getting draft picks and prospects for Boeser and Suter and bringing in guys like Glass and Kunin and at lower price. This team already can’t score might aswell go full defensive shell mode for the last 20 games.

I think the one thing the deadline hit home was just how difficult it is going to be for this team to acquire another impact centre. Some were looking at Cozens or Norris, but it’s not a surprise that they were traded for each other. Teams aren’t even willing to let go of underwhelming young centres with big contracts unless they are at least getting a centre back.

Going to be tough for Alvin.

How dare you even suggest we might have to give up something good

Mostly referring to the fact when it “rains”. It’s been thunderstorms how the past few months already.
The raining was a reference to how well this currently constructed forward group will do when it “rains”.

The center problem will be instantly solved if EP gain back his form. Chytil is a perfect 2C

A reminder that for majority of his career, he’s been the best player on his team.

Unless he’s had a server career altering injury, I don’t see why he can’t regain his form gain

Yep but that's the job. They put themselves in this position after inheriting perhaps the best trio of centers in the league.

They've been able to do it on defense, acquiring two legit top-4 D-men in their 20s for a relatively modest price.

So let's see what they can do up front now. I think the honeymoon period is well over for this management group. If they bungle another off-season they'll definitely hear about it.

Yeah they need to get at least 1 top6 forward and if they can do that then I think they can holdout till the TDL to get another.

Like I said, it’s already been thunderstorms. Saying when it “rains” makes no f***ing sense. What else can make it worse? The team catching bubonic plague?
You are not understanding the joke even though I’ve explained it. I wasn’t analyzing why the forward group currently sucks, only pointing fun at how poorly it’s constructed by drawing a metaphor to a house being constructed partly of cardboard.

The reality is that they are probably going to need to hit on a JT Miller kind of trade (when we acquired him) for this team to get back to contender status.

You are making a joke about how the forward corps is crap and thin in depth and won’t hold up when shit happens, hence you saying when it “rains”.
I don’t know if you notice but shits been hitting the fan this whole season.
Demko injured
Hughes injured
Hronek injured for like 2 months
Petey playing below expected
Joshua playing like crap after cancer
Brock playing like crap after concussion
JT nuking the room.

If anything this forward group is actually holding on decently despite it “raining pretty f***ing hard”.

Petey has to return to form for this team to be a contender. But even then, I’m not sure if Chytil will cut it. He’s only eclipsed 40 points once in his career and isn’t a shutdown centre. I haven’t loved his puck distribution so far in his limited time here in Vancouver but like his speed. He’s still is just 25 so he could grow and become what we need, but he’s going to need to develop a fair bit from here.

You seem incapable of understanding that my joke is looking forward, and wasn’t about how the forward group ended up being poorly constructed. The forward group since being constructed this way (I.e., NYR and Pens trades) hasn’t had anything notably bad happen to it. All of the stuff you listed happened before the forward group’s construction was completed. Why can’t you understand this? I provided zero commentary on why it was constructed poorly only that it has been.

The key assumption you make is that asset we get back for Boeser will actually make a difference.
Like I said, there is a cost which is telling the room we are mailing it in. That cost is simply not worth it when the whole focus is to get Quinn to buy in and stay.
They already sent that message by publicly trying to trade Boeser, Suter and Soucy Doubled down by not adding anyone. This deadline was definition of mailing in the rest of the season.
