If Raty can't lock down a spot soon he might be an asset they move on from. The 4th line has been wide open all year and he hasn't been able to stick around. I actually like him as a player but the team seems to be unsure.

Not sure where to post this.

Probably needs a new thread.

If anyone knows how to find it ...

What has been the annual ticket price vx inflation for hockey.

Canucks army, this would be a great article. Due a year by year ticket price comparison. Average seat vs prime seats etc. For the entire life of the Canucks. and preferably every other team in the league.

Some where I have a bunch of tickets that we never sold. My dad didnt bother to sell or find someone to take them a lot of the time, the money wasn't that much.

My family has had season tickets since the start.

The first years 1970 - 83 they were company tickets, but my dad was president and we went to a lot of games.

From 83 - 2004 my dad had 4 seasons tickets in the best seats available.

In 2004 my dad died. Another company had been buying all the tickets for a couple of years, and carried all the tickets until about 2012. (My mom had just died and asked me to be responsible for them since my dad died). I got invited to a few games a year because I was responsible for the tickets.

In 2013 (or 14) a friend asked about the tickets. He took over the 4 seats. He was responsible for those seats for 6 (?) years until disgust with Benning caused us to go down to 2 seats.

He has now decide to stop carrying the last 2 seats.

So seats that my family has been responsible for for 55 + years are now going. Very sad.

Anyhow, would love it if someone can find out what the year by year price of seat have been since the start, and compare that to inflation. And then see how we as caunck fans have fared compared to other teams.

Im not saying slugs won the trade.

Im saying that package isnt the sky is falling like fans seem to think.

In fact its a real decent value package at the time, a year later, even 3 years later.

Im also saying Petey doesnt have the drive or mentality to win like Eichel does so im not worried about him putting up 26 points in 23 games to win his new team a cup like everyone here is worried about.

And I am comparing Pettersson to Oliver Ekman-Larsson, yes.

Its an almost exact comparable right down to the temperment of the player, the contract given and the coach involved.

OEL was touted as a future norris winner by many after leading his team in scoring twice before age 25.

He was given the C and keys to the city and a 8 year deal for 66 million.

He was immedietly shopped as it kicked in.

His coach Rick Tocchet gave up on him, regardless of the players obvious talent.

He held Arizona hostage with a NMC because he "wanted to be there" like others keep saying for Petey and Vancouver. (Who cares! If its best for the franchise, like with OEL and Arizona, seeya)

And then the Injury comparables..

Maybe Petey has tendonitis. Maybe the picture I posted the other day of Jesperi Kotkaniemi folding his knee in half from 5 years ago is just tendonitis. Maybe the multiple times he's missed games since is about 5 more things affecting his knee. We dont know.

I do know OEL actually tore something and had a major surgery, then had ankle injuries his time in Vancouver.

So yeah OEL was likely "more" injured which contirubuted to his decline. Or maybe he just had surgery done while Petey has been playing on it for two years, remarkably not missing a single game last season.

Either way Petey is wayyyy closer to the OEL arc than any worry I have he pots 26 in 23 to win his new team a cup while (gasp) our centerpiece gets 9 fewer points than him over the nezt 3 years.
Let’s see where buffalo is at in the standings, oh last in the league. Yes that trade worked out great didn’t it

I don't think it's necessarily a fair assumption to say Buffalo would be any better with Eichel pouting on their team. That trade had to happen.

Because obviously we're the exact same orginization that will do the exact same things in the immediate aftermath of our trade, yes.

We will become the Buffalo Sabres and three years later we will be last in the league.

Its basically inevitable.

Nothing we can do, a Pettersson trade is only accompanied by a Buffalo Sabres handbook on how to manage the other 22 skaters on the roster.

In fact Buffalo breaks the curse by trading that package, FOR Petey.

We will recieve Alex Tuch, Petton Krebs, a 1st and a swap of 2nd for 3rd.

He will now automatically carry them singlehandidly to the finals. Ive got no cystal ball but I see a 6-20-26 statline in 23 games.

Its automatic. There's no other timeline but the exact Eichel scenario because history says it happened once.

Buffalo played so bad they had 2 1st OA since trading Eichel and is on pace to get another 1st OA but yeah let’s not rush to conclusions and maybe that trade really wasn’t that bad.

I'm not saying the trade wasn't bad, I'm saying keeping him wasn't really a choice.

Hey Bill, when it comes time to renew, I can take a few off your hands if you'd like to you can keep the seasons subscription in the family. Your dad sounds like he was a great man, and I know you to be the kind of person I hope I become someday.

If there's any chance we can keep you or your family in the seats, let's do it buddy.

Friend your comparing us to an entirely different franchise, 4 years after a trade they made that has nothing to do with us.

"Buffalo did it and they still suck" doesnt mean diddly to me because my favorite teams managrment isnt Kim Pegula and friends.

Then you'll never learn to learn from others' mistakes. That's just kinda sad to me, but if you enjoy it, it's your fandom.

Its sad you and others are so selective with the mistakes you've witnessed.

1. Erik Karlsson traded before his 11.5m deal started. (Drama, injuries, pending contract - sound familiar?)

- Needed to be retained 4 years later by his new team.

End result:

Out - Demelo, Stutzle, Norris, Ostapchuk, Rees

In - Rutta, Helenius, DAL 2025 1st and the pleasure of paying EK/Pens about 50 million dollars

2. Oliver Ekman-Larsson traded 2 years into his NMC. (Tocchet, injuries, reserved swede, huge contract - sound familiar?)

- Bought out two years later by his new team.

End result:

Out - Dylan Guenther, Jack McBain

In - Garland and the absolute pleasure of paying OEL about 30 million dollars while he screws our cap.

Literally both times it was an absolute garbage return for the supposed "star swede" and both times theyre actually highway tobbery trades for both Ottawa and Arizona a very short while later.

But no, Eichel happened once.

Ek was traded halfway through his contracts. Get your facts straight, there is a reason people don’t treat you seriously.

EK was traded by Ottawa at basically the exact time we first threatened Petey with Carolina.

He had one year remaining to UFA, in EK's case he was already signed so played one season in SJ before signing the 11.5 deal.

We gave Petey the deal right away, hence this first year with no NMC because hes still a RFA technically.

Maybe im off by a year but yes we are Ottawa with circa Erik Karlsson.

Not Canucks-related but some fun trade chatter from around the league.

St. Louis Blues
  • Brayden Schenn is available and this spiraled things in St. Louis; had a trickle effect during the 4 Nations Tournament
  • Mentions Jordan Kyrou and Pavel Buchnevich as possible trades
Vegas Golden Knights
  • Golden Knights are linked to Schenn
  • Are looking to make another splash before the trade deadline
  • Shea Theodore is expected to be out 6-8 weeks which would be towards the end of the season
Seattle Kraken
  • Like to keep a tight ship but are listening on so many players that word is starting to come out
  • High expectation that Brandon Tanev is traded
  • Listening on Jamie Oleksiak and Oliver Bjorkstrand
  • Jared McCann’s name is out there in trade rumours; a lot of noise surrounding him; almost at the same level of Tanev; wouldn’t go as far saying there’s as high an expectation but based on the chatter around the league he is likely to get traded
  • Yanni Gourde is injured but is being talked about
  • Have a lot of assets they are willing to listen on
Buffalo Sabres
  • Kevyn Adams would like to get a headstart on building the roster for next season; focus is on making the playoffs next year
  • Dylan Cozens is available but want to make a hockey trade
  • Teams have called on Alex Tuch; not untouchable but is close to it; not going to move him for futures; don’t want draft picks or prospects
  • Will continue to hear about Cozens as well as Bowen Byram and Owen Power
Carolina Hurricanes
  • Chatter over the last few days is around Mikko Rantanen’s future in Carolina; money won’t be the factor but rather Rantanen wants to sign there
  • A lot of people around the league that doubt Rantanen will sign an extension
  • If the Hurricanes can’t extend Rantanen, they will look recoup the assets they used to acquire him

When I was a younger Rev, I thought quality depth is what we needed on the prospect end. That and a solid farm system.

Younger Rev thought Buffalo made the Nieuwendyk for Iginla bet. And they did, but then f***ing bungled it. Berglund and Sobotka were cooked physically and no one knew it till they got to Buffalo. None of them caught it because they did not report to trainers. They gave their careers away for the game. God bless. Eichel put those f***ing guys into retirement by being better than them and having the room.

I find it f***ing hilarious when everyone praises McJesus for being the next Gretzky, and he's been the worst best player in this tournament anyway. He'll learn absolutely f*** all from having won this tournament. And he'll do it.

Every Vancouver Canuck involved learned more about this sport from this stupid f***ing tournament. I find that hilarious. If you're a betting man, at least do it wearing Canuck colours. That's all I really want to say and you'll f***ing ignore it and we'll all be able to laugh later.

God, you must truly be a f***ing lunatic to live in Calgary of all God forsaken places as a Canucks fan. ;)
