This team let Mikhyev play 46 games with a torn ACL and let Hughes play through injury to the point where it got even worse and he had to miss a bunch of games so yeah it’s not surprising at all they are playing Petey through tendonitis considering their official position is tendonitis is not an injury.

Why did the team let Mikheyev play on a torn ACL? Why shouldn’t they have? Who made the decision to play on it? What was the diagnosis from the medical staff? Did he get a second opinion? Enlighten us.

Miller @ 2.625
For
Studnicka, Beecher, Lysell, 1st

-Much needed RH center
-Decent center prospect
-Great winger prospect
-1st to draft a defenseman

Ive been trying to sell Miller for 4 quarters for literal years now to address the defense. I also crave RH centers which we've always lacked. This was before he even signed his new deal.

LA has all the pieces Vancouver needs to jumpstart a rebuild if you are committed to the age gap players instead of pure futures.

Jt Miller
Mikey Dipietro
Vancouver 2022 1st (*lekk in hindsight)
For
Alex Turcotte
Gabriel Vilardi
Rasmus Kupari
Helge Grans
Brock Faber

Two righthanded centers and two righthanded defenders, or unicorns to Canuck fans.

LA keeps their two best prospects in Byfield and Clarke while picking twice in the 1st to maybe target LHDs.

Literally 3-4 years of fans expecting a one for one when the reality was it was always gonna be four quarters for our dollar.

And now here we are with some fans still expecting Nick Suzuki types in return for our next overpriced Vancouver star center.

I can probably bring up my posts from 3 years ago offering 4 quarters for Petey too. We're already a year into a mystery box could be anything, even a boat denials.

Prepare for four quarters people.

I'm so happy I stopped watching the Canucks/NHL during the coof. It really is a never ending buffet of crap. Year 13 of the rebuild!

...and why did they stop the league for two weeks for some half assed tournament that means nothing and will be quickly forgotten? I've been confused looking at my fantasy hockey teams.

Charlie McAvoy
  • He’s is week-to-week; Bruins aren’t happy
  • His infection stemmed from an injection given to him before Saturday’s game to help manage the pain from the injury; was a typical thing in that players play through stuff and get help with pain management; is a daily occurrence in the NHL; just unlucky
4 Nations Tournament
  • Players don’t want to play international tournament before the NHL season starts because it cuts into their summer break
  • An earlier tournament would complete with college football and baseball playoff races; many won’t care about hockey in that time of year
  • Beat the NBA’s All-Star game
  • NHL & NHLPA need to do a better job, in future tournaments, in fixing the roster scenarios and not putting teams and players in a difficult spot
  • Four GMs “were slamming their fists on the table” demanding a 25-man roster but were rebuffed
  • Told it was the NHLPA that didn’t want a 25-man roster; wanted to allow guys to go on vacation; didn’t want guys attending the tournament but not play
  • Because the USA has 12 forwards and 6 defenceman, Quinn Hughes can’t play
  • If team USA has 11 healthy forwards, the league has not decided if team they can use an 11/7 format and permit Hughes to play
Boeser
  • Really quiet around him; doesn’t believe there’s been any significant negotiations
O’Connor
  • Was a little surprised at his extension because the Canucks had just worked to unload players in his pay range at the bottom of their line-up
  • Calls him a “quality 4th line centre” (O’Connor does not play centre; Halford & Brough, after the interview, talk about how much of an upgrade O’Connor is over Danton Heinen)
Pettersson
  • Thinks there’s way more risk for the Canucks in keeping Pettersson than trading him
  • Tournament did nothing to help his trade value
  • Becoming harder and harder to find teams interested in acquiring him
  • A rival GM told Seravalli that it would be hard for anyone to feel good about a trade for him if they are giving up significant value
  • Everyone can see his play and thinks there trepidation

I have really learned to hate that man. You can't believe anything he says anymore about the Canucks, cause you know there is going to be bias, and I am not even looking at the Pettersson stuff, just the O'Connor stuff. Then there was that tweet last week too. Man I hate guys like him. Miss guys like Bobby Mac.

If EP is getting traded, it very much seems like a team like Buffalo makes the most sense.

The "need" to make a change because things are not working right now.

Unfortunately, the fit from a Canucks POV is not great.

I mean yes they tried to justified it, but is there any other team in any sports league that let their guy play through a torn ACL?

If that is such a f***ing awesome idea why is the Canucks alone in that approach? Are we pioneers or just run by a medical team that is f***ing on crack.
who tried to justify it?

Yeah I basically stopped shitting on management when I found out about this tweet. The guy literally said this is what he wanted to do.

Using the Mikheyev ACL thing to support your claim about the team letting injured players play at this point is baseless.
Like I said, no team has allowed a player with a torn ACL to play, period. There has never been a case where oh wow player choice, the team let a player with torn ACL to play. That has not happened, ever with any player or any team.

Even if you ignore that, here is a recent history that involves the medical team.
- letting injured players play
- Mik
- Petey
- Hughes
- f***ing up very routine stuff
- miss a broken hand
- f*** up pearsons rehab to the point he was close to retiring
- rushing player back from injury and then jeopardizing the career
- Demko

Using it as a singular piece... sure, but then add in Pearson, Demko, Peterson, Dickinson, Hughes and you go... well maybe it is a pattern. What else have we just not heard?

At the time I was fine with him playing, but now after everything we have seen... I go yeah there is a big problem.

That doesn’t change the fact nobody does this shit. It’s like our medical team is out on an islands doing shit nobody else in the sports and medical field recommend.

It’s like oh yeah the figured out a way to make it happen and then what?
Hysterical

Literally every team does it.
even National teams!!

You do realize star players play injured all the time right? Especially when their team is in the midst of battling for a wild card spot.

Hughes hasn’t missed a ton of games in his career and isn’t used to missing significant amount of games, he literally said this yesterday. Teams in 2024 don’t force players to play injured.. otherwise they’re literally setting themselves up for litigation. I mean look at Hughes even now saying how badly he wanted to be apart of the 4 Nations but he had to think of the larger picture and wanted to be rested for the final stretch. Who do you think is largely behind that decision, if not Hughes himself?

And blaming the team for Demko being injury prone is an incredible stretch and utterly ridiculous considering he’s been injury ridden long before this regime.

The only real screw up is Pearson in which they fired a ton of their medical staff in years end as clearly there was malpractice involved. But even so, I don’t see how he’s relevant to the discussion when the main gripe that you have is about the team letting injured players play….

And Dickinson?

There's alot of discussion to be had about the training staff and the injuries over the last few years and none of it is good.

Its the one thing I have zero faith in the orginization on when it comes to it.

But disregarding all the who is at fault, who was in the right, ect talk..

I'd just like to point to this example of yet another bunch of Canuck fans "get owned" pulling receipts moments and address the elephant in the room.

Who gives a **** what Ilya Mikhayev wanted?!?

(Also applies to Petey wants to stay crowd)

I swear to god the entire fanbase would probably lose their minds if we actually started pulling some cutthroat Vegas shenanigans.

The team comes first people.

Whats best for the orginization. Period.

From an asset and CBA standpoint, I dont see no grievences being filed for ol Ilya if we shut the dude down in training camp, year one of a 4 year deal, because he blew out his knee.

Fans should be up in arms and pulling receipts that we played our asset when we shouldnt have to the detriment of the franchise, not being worried about what one of 23 skaters wants.

Even Buffalo writers saying pass on EP:

Why would you move anything of value for him at this point and take on the contract risk premium? Think the ship has sailed and you just have to try to get something of a bounce back in play over the remainder of the season.

Even Buffalo writers saying pass on EP:

This season, both Pettersson and the Canucks have taken a major step back. As a team, the Canucks went from competing for the President’s Trophy to competing for the second wild card spot in the West. Pettersson, meanwhile, has just 11 goals and 34 points in 49 games while publicly feuding with Miller.

For the kind of money that the Canucks are paying Pettersson, that kind of production is unacceptable. They thought they were getting a 90-100-point elite centerman when they inked him to that deal. As of now, they are getting middling second-line center production, at best.

Even Buffalo writers saying pass on EP:

I cant help but LOL.

Look, it sucks. Dude scored 10 goals in his first 10 games.

It was electric! I was convinced he's a god.

Then injuries I witnessed with my own two eyes.

For once in our pathetic existance I really wanted us to sell high on an asset.

And today, as I got blasted for mentioning this morning, yes even the Cozens and Byram dream is dead.

There's still hope though. There is a four quarters package involving Cole Sillinger out there. I believe it still.

Nuck fans will ask for Fantilli and Marchenko, the trade will be Sillinger and DBB if we're lucky.
