If Pettersson turns his game around it won’t be in Van, he’s not mentally strong enough to handle Vancouvers heavy spotlight of a market. If we can move him by the TDL for something decent we have to consider it.

So is there anyone left who doesn't want to trade Pettersson? Im firmly on the trade Pettersson bandwagon now before we are stuck with the biggest dead weight contract in the history of the game. Crazy thing is I think we can still get a really nice package for him but for the love of god he has to be traded before his new contract kicks in

So sad to type that. I loved the hype around him the year before he came over and we were watching him kill the SHL
when you've lost m2b...

I'll be giving him one more year.

If he can't get back to form with a healthy off season of training and the motivation of opposing players and Vancouver fans chirping him for being washed all year, then we are good and truly f***ed.

We’re so f***ed if his play next season is what it is now plus he has a NMC to completely handcuff us. I think the move is now. Even if he does become a 80 pt player, he’s not the guy who will lead the team to a cup. At this point it’s not worth the risk.

It's risky either way, Barry's value is in the toilet with his production, injury, attitude whatever, better off keeping him and hoping he bounces back unless you can find a GM who thinks they can fix him.

I get it.

This dude was a killer when he first came into the league. His first training camp he was swinging his dick around doing Forsberg dekes and dangling vets. Botch mentioned him specifically thinking "oh damn, this kid is serving notice to nhlers that this is his team.". He was a beast in the SHL, and lead his team in the SHL playoffs. His first taste of playoff action in the bubble he was great and went ppg.

I think that guy is still in there somewhere.

I get why people are doubting him, he f***in sucks right now. But I think it's a physical limitation he can overcome with a run of health and hard training. I think this blows up in our face spectacularly if we don't show some patience here.

Who knows though, we're all just guessing at this.

Because the last 7 years didn’t happen obviously

Some Petey proposals:

Mittlestadt, Nichuskin, Ritchie

Soderblom, Danielsson/Brandsegg-Nygard, and a 1st

Sillinger, Chinakov, Del Bel Belluz, and a 2nd

Cozens + Quinn + 2nd or Peterka + Edstrom/Ohlund

Byfield + Clarke (highly doubt LA does this but they have a dumbass GM)

Tippett + Foerster

Barzal (straight up 1 for 1)

Norris + Batherson

Soucy probably wants to get out of here if he's not getting consistent play time. No players want to ride the bench or rotate. I think he'll waive his NTC as long as the playing situation and geography makes sense. Don't think he'll limit to just two teams.

Or we can just hold on to him... not going to give him away for free.
He's from Alberta, has played the last 4 years on the west coast, has a young family, and reportedly wants to stay in western Canada.

Limits the options.

There’s a huge risk either way. For me… he’s not the guy who will lead us to a cup, even before his issues. We don’t have players like Horvat or Miller to take a lot of the pressure off of him, I mean both those players are doing great with their new teams. This isn’t the market where he will turn it around. His mental toughness isn’t there to handle this market. Guys like Horvat and Miller thrived in it, Pettersson can’t if everything isn’t going peaches for him. Take in to count his contract and NMC are hands will be completely tied, we lose all leverage and will have to take back next to nothing in return and likely retain cap. It’s not worth it, imo. He sucks, it’s been over a year now and he’s play is getting worse! It’s one thing if he was getting better, he’s not.

I absolutely hate the idea of doing this, but they should consider trading Hughes in the offseason.

Unless he outright tells management he won't re-sign, it's not worth much of a discussion because no owner would ever allow that trade to go through, nevermind Aquilini. If Rutherford or Allvin even suggested it, they'd be out of a job.

  • Canuck fans need to be classier; shouldn’t rip him apart on the day he finds out he’s out for the season

While I do agree with this in a vacuum. I wager it's far more fans voicing frustration at the fact Tocchet wouldn't stop playing him when it was beyond obvious he just couldn't handle the NHL.

Unfortunately, there's not a single team offering anything decent for him right now. At best, I could see Buffalo doing Cozen straight or tossing in a late pick.

People here have the same short term memory as those Americans with Trump.

This is where I'm at as well. He's been given every concession and opportunity here and he has still been brutal for well over a year. Eichel gets thrown out there as a comparison - does anyone think Eichel would've rebounded post surgery if he stayed in Buffalo? I think it's time to move on from this player.

Most been dreaming of a selke trophy center for years. Now we have one and he sucks. Lol jk

So this is a little out of left field. Got a email today from van city about wealth management. It made some remark about investing like Gretzky. Got an email about six hours later saying sorry that email was ill considered.

It’s funny how two very respected hockey players in Oror and Gretzky have killed their image in Canada. By kissing the orange haired aass’s butt.
