Brock Boeser
  • Would be amenable to a slightly shorter contract if the AAV is larger
  • Canucks are firm on their desire for a 4-5 year contract
  • One source said “He’ll have his pick of destinations in the summerif he gets there,”
  • Ownership greatly values playoff revenue so the Canucks may keep him past the TDL
  • Compares his trade value to Jake Guentzel’s last season but slightlyless
  • Kings, Devils, and Senators are linked to him
  • Wouldn’t be surprising if the Wild try to acquire him
Carson Soucy
  • Canucks sent a fax to 31 teams telling them that Soucy is available
  • Should be a market for him since he is signed for next season
  • Both Canucks and Soucy’s representatives have been working hard to find a trade but haven’t gained any traction
  • Flames make sense; suggests a player-for-player swap
Elias Pettersson (you know the one)
  • Still an appetite to acquire him around the league
  • One source said “This would be the worst time to try and get value for him.”
  • Says the best and current course is to hold on to him and if he can’t turn his season around, his name will pop up in trade talks around the draft

Yeah it does feel like trading Pete right now is bad timing with his value at an all time low. But even for me watching him for the last couple of games has been less than encouraging.

And for the remark about Juulsen from earlier interview, while what they are asking (about fans' comments on knowing Juulsen's season coming to an end) is reasonable, the segment also sounds rather tone-deaf. No doubt Juulsen's a nice guy, but guess what, he sucks ass as a hockey player. Of course this would have been less of an issue if Toc didn't try to wedge him into the team at every undeserving opportunity possible, even when better options are present. Really not a fan of this emotional blackmail crap.

Confirmed: JR has banned everyone in the Canucks organization from using a fancy new computer thingy or a cellular device.
our medical system still relies on fax machines. My daughter had knee surgery last summer and we had to fax a consult request to the surgeon's office. it was bizarre.

And which Top 2C will be acquired for just picks and maybe prospects?
  • Not Buffalo
  • Not Ottawa
  • Not Columbus
  • Not Anaheim
B Schenn? I think he goes to Toronto.

Mitts in Colorado if they think a change of scenery would help?

Seattle? Very doubtful.

Anyone will an actual Top 2C that they would even contemplate trading likely does not want picks/prospects but NHL contributing players (or very close to).

Sam Bennett was acquired for a 2nd and a former 2nd round prospect. Miller was acquired for a 1st and a 3rd. Pavel Zacha for Erik Haula. Kadri for Tyson Barrie and Alex Kerfoot. I think avenues are much hardly thanks to analytics, more know now.

Chandler Stephenson has two cups now. 3rd round pick 5 years after in his first season wins it with Washington. 5 years later wins it with Vegas after they acquired him for a 5th round pick. That's why Van need to make picks mid rounds Lol.

You could probably get Norris from Ottawa.

Except this a player who is playing over his salary expectations. These are players you retain. Move on from players who cant justify their CAP hits or demands.

EP, Boeser, HOG and Demko. Suter should be considered a player who is a winner on a losing team. EP, Boeser, HOG and Demko are losers playing on a losing team.

Brock wants 8 M? For what? We should pay you for the rare instance where you score 40 goals? No thanks.

Brock should have called up Bo and took his shooting and tipping offseason training program. Picked the wrong year to be UFA with the circus in Van for 2 months. I guess he'll still get paid by someone though. I would like to explore other options.

Yeah moving on from Suter makes no sense unless he wants stupid money which I don't think any team will give him.

First out on a good PK, can play anywhere in your bottom 6, can be a matchup center against maybe not opposing 1st lines ideally but 2nd for sure.

Add in the 15G/35P+ and you have a player worth 3M even if the cap wasn't going up.

What does Suter want is the first question. Second is where is he playing then? Rover again? He's a useful player but how many guys do we have in the bottom 6 already?

Sherwood
Joshua
Blueger
Hoglander
O'Conner

So, if we sign Suter he's our third line center and we're running Petey, Chytil, Suter, and Blueger, down the middle. The wings are covered already. I would sign him for $2.5 x 2 but I'm guessing he's looking at a bigger deal (likely $3 plus x 4). He's probably earned it. His PK utility is very good, that I wouldn't want to lose. To me it's completely obvious we got to move Hoglander if we can. Really too bad we don't have a center in the system at all. Raty maybe but that's a big ?.

So you think having a team of 30 point players is going to make the team better because they have value? Brock gets 8M a year because he can score 30. Something that Suter will NEVER get close too.

Roster construction? Where does he fit? You are going to sacrifice Joshua or Hoglander then? Lose size on the walls. Losing the ability to score more than 15 a season for the same prize.

So many people completely miss roster construction and it drives me nuts lol. That's the Benning model to an exact T. Collect good value players simply because they are good value and fit your "pillars" without a clue how they are going to fit into the line-up. All the while spending to the cap as a result and then wonder why we have no cap space with an abundance of mediocrity, but good value, on the ice. This team must get better at the top of the lineup or the bottom 6 doesn't even matter.

I think we all agree that Suter is a great guy to have to fill in the cracks.

The problem is that the roster doesn't have cracks to fill. It has huge f***ing tectonic fault lines that have opened up across our top-six centers and wingers.

They need to focus finding players that can fill those holes first before they commit such cap to Suter.

1000% This team needs to formulate a plan for the obvious craters before tinkering around without the finishing touches. Suter isn't winning us a cup on his own, we already have him and it's not pretty. I agree, it should be a wait and see where he fits rather then a must sign.

I think he's talking to you

Suter isn't a good center though. 42% on face offs. He's not a match up center. Neither is Chytil.

Benning had the most middle 6ers he could. Lol. I understand some fan favourites but it's business. You keep some you lose some, can't just keep paying more and more for the same. Now the Canucks are paying more for Joshua, O'Connor, Hoglander. I would keep Hoglander over Suter. A different coach Hoggy is probably much better in the future than Suter.

I wasn't pumped about the Joshua deal. Resembled Greenway that never lived up to the deal. Consistent but not consistent. It is the going rate though.

Garland and Soucy gets the Canucks the cap space to acquire Norris or Cozens and most assets to do so. If Boeser is traded. You need top 6 C and top 6 W for 11.75 plus a couple others. Never going to happen. Lekkerimaki only then needs to cover the normal 45-50 Garland scores and not the 60-70 that Boeser regularly scores. In this moment it makes sense. The roster now has far too many flaws.

I think people are way to focused on to we bring back X (in this case seems like Suter) Its tough to say without knowing the cap number on if we should bring a guy back. On the right deal i take Suter back in a second. But what is his ask?

Same thing with boeser.

Sekeres is ignoring the fact that Soucy has trade protection and probably only wants to go one of the Alberta teams.
