Its a poster who types a lot but its ramblings.

the absolute best case scenario with Pettersson is that the the tendonitis is no longer an issue and he's humiliated by his play this year (rightfully so) and will train over the summer at a level sufficient to regain his prior form.

The worst case scenario is the knee problem is chronic and he just won't have the speed to create enough separation to pick the defense apart. Defenders will play him tight and easily overpower him physically.

If i was in Alvin's shoes I'd put a ton of pressure on him to stay in Vancouver over the summer and train locally.

I'm not opposed to taking a flyer on Zegras, depending on the cost, but man this guys has some serious warts.

the only time he has been able to produce at the NHL level (2021-23) he was getting the easiest deployment in the league (okay...second easiest).....and he was still getting absolutely ventilated 5v5. All his share numbers were well below 50% despite 78% OZ starts (only Ovechkin had higher....2000 minutes or more). Now he's getting mid 50 OZ starts and his underlying numbers still suck and his production has fallen off a cliff.

Maybe Anaheim would entertain a swap of 2019 draft pick reclamation projects and Hoglander goes the other way.

Or Mynio and a 2nd.

I would absolutely not trade Kudryavtsev for him though. People are massively underrating this player.

Kudryavtsev is on a better development curve than 6th OA David Jiricek....and could probably be playing 3rd pairing minutes in the NHL right now and not look out of place. It's not totally unreasonable to think he could be a top 4 defender in a few years if the development continues, and until then having a guy on an ELC who can be shuttled back and fourth between Vancouver and Abbotsford is quite handy.
I wouldn't go that far on Kudryavtsev, but I do think that putting him as a throw-in for value would be a mistake. KK's development so far has been extraordinary, to say the least, and if he can even take half the step up next year from this year, he could project as a top 4 guy, in my opinion.

What I think most posters forget is that just because he has less value to the team due to his positional strength in the NHL doesn't mean his value is reduced. There was a post in which a member of the media said that they value KK, EP25, and Mynio as equivalent to a first-rounder, and thinking more about it, I can see it. Not 100% onboard, but I can see it.

Would you do the Cozens + Byram for Petey trade now?

We have to take into account your bans and suspensions. Could have easily amassed 85k posts by my estimates.
Probably. But where would this sub forum be without my precise and articulate GDT analysis? Some of them I posted over 100 times a thread. Almost always were well thought out posts

How often are you watching him? Admittedly I don't watch him a ton but I got reaction where some of these descriptions are not quite how I view him life and has he changed a lot of his game this year
watched a bit of the Ducks since around the time JT to NY rumours were rampant early Jan. wanted to see McTavish and LaCombe (mostly McTavish because he’s one of my wishful fantasy targets) but ended up focusing on Zegras.

What caught my eyes were his hustle in the forecheck and gritty style of play, like a poor man’s Marchand. Never really thought he was that sort of player. offensively he’s always attempting to create something. Not really a shoot first player. Involved in scums, constantly directing traffic, talking on the bench. He’s matured quite a bit. And I used to think he was a showboating clown to be honest and my opinions of him have changed.

I checked the Anaheim boards and if you look at their Zegras thread, there are fans who saying they’ll quit being fans if Zegras is ever traded. To me that suggests they hold Zegras in high esteem and they think he’s the most valuable offensive player they have which seems accurate from what I’ve seen.

Cozens to me seems like a riskier bet but I really have no clue what he’s like cuz I’ll be damned if I have to watch a Buffalo game lmao.

still wouldn't, no. this is all very frustrating with Petey but IMO patience will pay off. He'll get right, I'm confident, even if I'd prefer its sooner than later.

The appeal of Byram+ Cozens was the pressing need to simultaneously address the defense and replace the center we would be losing in a JT-or-Petey trade. But that ideal trade never materialized - they've traded JT and got Markus, the team has different needs now.

After seeing what? Nothing's happened that makes me think any differently about the situation since last year other than a mountain of reinforcement that it was all about the injury last year and either injury or offseason this year.

Miller was gone either way. Cozens isn't worth his contract right now and I'm perfectly happy with MP3 other than I wish we traded our 1st for him instead of the Rangers. What's there to regret?
