Ok. If they’re in a playoff spot and trade Boeser for futures without immediately using them to upgrade the roster, I’ll etransfer you $50.
Okay. I’ll do the same but let’s make it clear.

Just to reiterate: If they don’t trade Boeser while in a playoff spot at or prior to the deadline, I’ll give you $50 (your original statement).

If they do trade Boeser while in a playoff spot and:
We receive picks + prospects and we use them to immediately improve the team
OR
We get a young player

You give me $50.

If Boeser extends prior to the deadline, there is no money exchanged.

I’d do it this season because next season is going to be worse. We are committed to pushing our chips in, let’s just do it this time and hope for the best.

Failing that, should be another interesting year next season at least…

We’ve got a Kopitar, we’ve got a Doughty, we’ve got a Quick, just push the chips in already and let’s get our Mike Richards.
I wouldn't do it this season. The team is just legitimately not as good as last year.

Silovs played admirably in the final game for a 3rd stringer imo. He held us in it.

We got a 0.898 save% from Silvos and still almost got things done.

The door was open last year and there is just a good a chance that it will be open again this year.

That's why we need to go for it every year that we have Quinn Hughes playing at the level he is playing at.

Silovs was the only skater who played right from the outset. The rest of the team showed up in the final ten minutes, but Silovs was under siege from the get-go. You can nitpick a couple of the Oilers' goals, but he also made several showstopper saves on Grade A scoring chances that gave the team a chance.

He also stole Game 3 in that series for us. IMO, on average, you need your goalie to steal at least 1 game, so he did his job there. I thought the Canucks were easily the best team on the ice in Games 1 and 6, and were money for their wins - we lost the series on Game 2, IMO. Carried the play and a lead into the 3rd period, and then just went into a Turtle and let the Oilers take over.

OT, but just had to give my opinion.

The premise is they won’t punt the season, so if in a playoff spot:

If they trade Boeser for an immediate upgrade (e.g., Boeser + for someone better) or re-sign him, push.

If they don’t trade Boeser and no extension, you give me $50.

If they trade Boeser for futures and keep them for later, I’ll give you $50.

You guys should also push if signed at later date, they could decide they are close enough on a contract they can wait until later to finish it.

Only reason? Get serious. We had an excellent system and defense that helped Silovs in a big way. Players had to sell out defensively and it ended up costing us a ton of offense.

Silovs had some good moments. But as the series went on he had holes, particularly from point shots. His body of work against the Oilers was patchy at best but there was no reason to expect anything better from a rookie being thrown in to the pressure cooker.

And that was basically the jist of it. Because Silovs had virtually no experience and was all of a sudden playing in the 2nd rd of the Stanley Cup Playoffs, we were all just elated he wasn't getting lit up. Any talk that he carried us is pretty nonsensical to me.

JGP would be a good add too and he's signed through the end of next year.

I have an article for Canucks Army about buy low candidates ready (unfortunately I've been so sick over the last week that I haven't been able to do the necessary edits to get it published) and he's on the list. He ticks a lot of boxes and shouldn't have any real acquisition cost.

It’s clear the management wants size and speed.

I wish we could have had Holloway and Boldy. My dream wingers

JGP, Palmieri, and schenn for that matter are too old, don't see them saving up every dollar of 12m cap for those types of mids.

Palmieri would be a rental so his age doesn’t matter.

JGP is signed for next season but that’s it so there’s not a long term commitment to him. He also shouldn’t cost anything to acquire and could eat up valuable match-up minutes. He wouldn’t be my first choice and I’d rather any cap dollars allocated to him go to a viable top-6 scorer.

No interest in Schenn. I don’t think the three really swim in the same waters given their different contract statuses.
