I’m willing to bet some $$$ that Boeser is either traded or extended before the deadline, regardless of playoff position. Then don’t spent the cap space, I couldn’t care less if we bring in an extra mid round pick for helping another team try to win.
Management won’t trade Boeser if we’re in a playoff spot unless we’re somehow upgrading. Ban me otherwise @mods.

Agreed, they learned this lesson the hard way last year. They moved 1st, 2nd, 3rd and 5th and had nothing to show for it.
Guys are never going to be allowed to leave for nothing again.
1 game away from making the WCF and facing an injury riddled Dallas team with a 25% Hintz, No Tanev and expired Pavelski. They traded those picks for the vibes man, for the vibes!
But seriously, that playoff run even if it was snapped short in the second round probably did wonders for the fan base and team interest.
Silovs played admirably in the final game for a 3rd stringer imo. He held us in it.1 game away from making the WCF and facing an injury riddled Dallas team with a 25% Hintz, No Tanev and expired Pavelski.
Done in by zombie Pettersson, glass Demko, crap goaltending and Boeser getting a random blood clotting disorder.
Path was wide open last year. This year? Eh, not so much.
I 100% agreed with the direction of last season's deadline. At the time, I said that I thought it was probably going to be their best shot at the Cup in Quinn's current contract window. I would've gone even more all-in, honestly. Used Lekk as a trade chip for another upgrade. They traded those picks for the vibes man, for the vibes!

Canucks 2024 Stanley Cup Champions Head Canon confirmed.Yep. I even liked their chances against Florida, matching the Canucks forward depth against the Panthers top heaing d-core.
Chill Bill, Vol. 2Once again, are any of you not going to be a Canucks fan in 3 - 5 years time? You can go all in IF you are top 4 in the league. We are hanging on to the last playoff spot by a thread.
Keep tinkering, but make smart deals if they are there. If Boeser doesn't extend, deal him if you get a decent offer. But lets see how the next 7 games go.
I'm not really sure this argument has much sway. I'm going to be a Canucks fan even if we did a tear down rebuild. I would watch less games but would still be a fan. I get your point though. I support having one eye towards the future.Once again, are any of you not going to be a Canucks fan in 3 - 5 years time?
LOL
Canucks already taking a chance on Chytil, now Johsh Norris too?
8mil for 3 more years after this season for someone good for about 50 games a year and cant be counted on to survive playoff hockey.
No Thanks. and definitely no thanks if it will cost anything valuable.
Willing to gamble on him if its for scraps.
It has been reported by Sevaralli that Ottawa has been looking to get rid of Norris all year and would look at getting rid of his 8mill off the books as a win iteself.
It will be a minimum of 7 years before we can compete again.Once again, are any of you not going to be a Canucks fan in 3 - 5 years time? You can go all in IF you are top 4 in the league. We are hanging on to the last playoff spot by a thread.

This team is largely so far down the standings for understandable reasons:Once again, are any of you not going to be a Canucks fan in 3 - 5 years time? You can go all in IF you are top 4 in the league. We are hanging on to the last playoff spot by a thread.
I think the bigger problem is that they want to get off the $9.5 million in base salary for this year and the next 2. I think they had no problem paying him $5 and $6.5 million the last two years. But now that he is earning $9.5 million on a team that does not like to spend a ton money if they can help it and he is not really earning its now a problem. I would give up any assets for him in a trade.I wanted to port this post over here UrbanImpact, hope you don't mind?
You are of course correct. Josh Norris is a cap dump. Garrioch has implied as much here:

Ottawa Senators are in NHL playoff mix, but challenge is staying there
Saturday's 5-0 victory in Pittsburgh gave them a 20-18-3 record midway through the schedule.ottawasun.com
"League executives say the Senators would like to get centre Josh Norris and his $7.95-million salary cap hit off the books, but not many teams can take on that contract without giving Ottawa something back."
But I think what happens is that people see he is 25 and the dreams of potential take hold. This is HF, after all. Still, it doesn't change what he is right now. Nor, what he is likely to be moving forward.
I have no illusions on that front, but I think he fits specifically because VAN can take that type of chance now, and they need centre help.
They should also re-sign Suter. Get as much redundancy as is possible to make up for the loss of Miller.
I think this is why ownership and management might prefer Brayden Schenn—while his AAV cap hit over the next three years is $19.5m total, his actual salary due is only $14.8m total.I think the bigger problem is that they want to get off the $9.5 million in base salary for this year and the next 2. Oh, he was one of the best stories. Unfortunately got eventually figured out by the Oilers. Struggled when dealing with shots from the point or screens.Silovs played admirably in the final game for a 3rd stringer imo. He held us in it.
Ok. If they’re in a playoff spot and trade Boeser for futures without immediately using them to upgrade the roster, I’ll etransfer you $50.I’m willing to bet some $$$ that Boeser is either traded or extended before the deadline, regardless of playoff position.

risky bet. they might keep the futures boeser returns and trade other different futures.Ok. If they’re in a playoff spot and trade Boeser for futures without immediately using them to upgrade the roster, I’ll etransfer you $50.
