They’d be wise toWonder if Carolina trades rantanen if they can’t extend him by the deadline.
@Jerry the great i'm with you on evans
They are going to evaluate Boeser straight to Columbus if he doesn't come down from 8x8.I wonder if we get any extensions announced over this break - O’Connor, maybe Boeser if the Canucks finish evaluating him?
Do we stand a decent chance of catching LAK for 3rd in the pacific?!
OConnor - 3x2.25
Lankinen 4x3.75
Boeser 6x7.25 or traded
Make us proud Allvin/Castonguay and co!
Managements track record in free agency is pretty good. I'm willing to trade boeser for futures at the TDL and let them weaponize the cap space and use it again in free agency for an upgrade on what boeser would have asked for anyway. Ehlers, mantha and drouin come to mind.I have no issue moving on from Boeser if we have a plan B in the chamber. He’s just not dynamic enough
He’d be a big addition to the PP, but the injury risk is an issue, and not a small one considering the fragility of our other top centres. So aside from speed what is the appeal with norris right now and his risk?
Do we want 2 centers now with significant injury risk?

If the rumours are true that Ottawa has been trying to trade him all season (or longer) , you’d think the cost would be pretty low. If Boeser won’t sign an extension the team can live with and you can swap him for Norris (either directly or through a third team) it’s a consideration I guess.
I’d rather target Evans and just roll the dice that Chytil can elevate his game.

I still think there's the possibility Boeser is traded if they can't come to terms and then is immediately replaced in a somewhat lateral move. Like Boeser out, and then right away they announce a trade for Rakell (or whoever). That's not punting the season. It's directly replacing Boeser's spot with someone who's cost controlled for a few years.Depends. We really need a top six winger to be impactful. Not to mention, Pettersson needs to find his scoring touch again if we're going to chase LA.
At this point, there is almost zero chance Boeser gets traded regardless of how contract talks go. We're not getting someone back for a rental that will help us make a playoff push now. It's more or less telling the roster we've decided to punt on the season. Which doesn't seem like the M.O given we got Marcus.
The only way I see Boeser taking less than 8M is with an 8 year term to offset the loss. Basically, he helps us with a lower cap hit, but we guarantee him what would essentially be a retirement contract. Even then, I still see that number being closer to (or at) 8M.
If Carolina wants to trade Rantanen at the deadline, I wonder if Boeser + 1st gets it done...

Another thing worth mentioning is management's track record on re-signing players (and contracts as a whole.)
I can't really think of and instance where they've re-signed a player and it's been a bad deal. I think I've often been surprised when the details come out on how good it is. The most recent example, Marcus Pettersson and some of the wild numbers thrown around.
My point is, if they ultimately do re-sign Boeser, it's probably going to follow that trend.
(I'm sure some replies will point out a deal I've forgotten about, like the elephant in the room, expensive Pettersson but at the time of signing i don't think anyone was complaining.)
