I wonder if Brandon Tanev might be a guy they consider acquiring. Rutherford signed him to a 6 year. 3.5M contract back in the day

Wild idea.

We don't go out and Get Lindholm OR Monahan. We get Lindholm AND Monahan.

Those guys played some of their best hockey together. Both are solid (when healthy) 200 foot all situations players. Optionality for the PK and PP. I know people are dismissive of Monahan because he's been through the wringer and that certainly hasn't been a positive contributor to his foot speed, but he's actually having a good year and we don't need him to play a million minutes over an 8 year stretch.

I don't think Monahan will be that expensive due to his injury history and Lindholm is not likely going to return the assets those dullards at the Athletic think he will. The Flames are probably desperate to generate some hockey opps related news right now and the Canadians probably want to get Monahan dealt before he's broken again. If we can move Kuzmenko to the Hawks for a pick or two and put Mikheyev in the Lindholm deal (+ 1st + prospect), we'd even have cap space to add a defender. A good GM would probably be able to play these deals off each other to keep prices down and expedite the process.

I'm sure Yzerman would be all over that.

Could see if Jiri meshed well w Hughes. Which would allow us to push Hronek down the 2nd line LH. Which would affect his point totals and potentially salary demands next year.

If Jiri and Hughes click we could even let Hronek walk and sign a cheaper 2nd pairing LH.

Lots of potential benefits

He proposed a trade of Wallinder for Jiri(cek). Wallinder is a prospect in the Red Wings organization. Willander is the Canucks prospect.
ohhhhhhhhhhhhh okay. I feel smrt again. I was scouring the wings prospects/draft picks for "Jiri", but then couldn't find ANY stories about a Jiri Hudler comeback. thanks for clearing it up.

Marx the date on your calendar: March 8th. I hope the Canucks won't be Gulagging behind other teams in the standings by then.
I don't think I'm German for high Marx on that one.

I'm Putin it away for now, but you can give myeall the Gorby details and I might stop Petering around at take some Vladivostok on #17's hot dogs.

Wonder if both Kuzmenko and Zadorov find their way to Chicago.

Chicago is one of the few teams that is capable of paying and playing Zadorov like a #4 (which is allegedly what he wants). They probably won't mind adding his toughness for their young rebuild, either.

That's over 9M in cap, which should be enough to bring in a different D-man and forward, especially if we pay for retention.

I know some people feel it'd be foolish to dump Zadorov before the playoffs given his skill-set, but I don't know if the coaching staff is in love with him and they probably prefer another RD to balance the pairs.

However I expect him to stay because the price to acquire Tanev may be too high and management might prioritize forward help instead.

Rick already confirmed the Canucks have no intention of moving Zadorov
