Here’s my spreadsheet for upcoming UFAs, each team’s cap situation, and a trade tracker. I update the spreadsheet daily. I use CapFriendly to create this list and AFP Analytics for the contract projections.

Edit: Spreadsheet has been updated with AFP's latest projections and I added a new section for RFAs.

Given the Canucks’ affection for big players, I wonder if they look at Anthony Mantha for a top six role.

I’ll bang the Duclair drum again - thought he would have made a good target and still do. I don’t believe his defensive game is great, but he’s got good wheels and offensive skills. And I don’t think he’ll be as expensive as some other guys in the market.

I think size combined with speed is the way to go Joshua is someone that we should keep. That is always what seems to be the difference maker in long playoff runs. In Allvin we trust.

I think he’s the one of our big pending UFAs we will keep. Lindholm and Zadorov may be too rich to keep, but I think (hope) we will retain Joshua.

Can anyone translate this?

I asked chat gpt

The paragraph seems to be a somewhat confusing and informal message, likely due to typos and grammatical errors. Here's a clearer interpretation:

"Lol, you put Eriksson Ek here, whose name often gets mixed up by Bill Guerin and Ryan Hartman, who just signed a full 4-year NMC (no-movement clause). No disrespect, but next time do better research."

In this context, the person is pointing out that someone mentioned Eriksson Ek (likely a hockey player) and noted that his name is often mixed up by Bill Guerin (possibly a team manager or executive) and Ryan Hartman (another player). The writer then mentions that Ryan Hartman just signed a full 4-year no-movement clause contract. Finally, they are advising the other person to do better research next time, although they add "no disrespect" to soften the criticism.

My predictions for the offseason:

-Myers, Blueger, and Joshua all re-signed
-Hronek extended for less than 8m
-Podkolzin, Karlsson, and Bains make the team
-Dillon signs
-3rd-pairing RD added to the roster through trade or UFA
-Silovs signs the Podkolzin contract and is the back-up
-Mikheyev is extracted from the roster somehow

This actually leaves them with about 8-9m in cap space (if Mikheyev’s full cap hit is gone) to acquire another top-6 winger.

Suter-Miller-Boeser
Hoglander-Pettersson-???
Joshua-Blueger-Garland
Bains-Aman-Podkolzin
PDG/Karlsson

Hughes-Hronek
Soucy-Myers
Dillon-(Desharnais)
Juulsen

Silovs

Couple of idle thoughts as I process today’s press conference.

1) I really don’t think the Canucks buyout Mikheyev but I do think they trade him. Possibly as a salary offset with an asset attached. Allvin’s comments about putting Mikheyev in a position to succeed in the bottom-6 is a clear indication that they believe they misread the player. They have a history at trying to move out inefficient contracts and now that they are fully invested in competing, they need to move out the most inefficient contract on the team.

2) The top-6 winger they are looking for is via free agency. No mentions to exploring the trade market and specifically talked about pursuing UFAs. On top of that, what little assets they had they moved for Lindholm. Allvin has talked about not wanting to move 1st multiple years in a row. I believe they’ll want to retain their 1st to use as ammo during the season. They also don’t really have any prospects to trade. Lekkerimaki, Willander, and Pettersson are the only guys with value and the team has repeatedly stated that they need those three in the NHL in a couple years to counter-act the OEL buyout and raises for the rest of the roster. So, that leads me to firmly believe they’ll pursue a UFA winger and will have everything else sorted out before July 1st.

I do think Zadorov is going to be coming back. If we can have Myers at 6x6 we can have Zadorov at 5x5.

I was just thinking of this as wrinkle to my expectations. I think if they can bring him back for longer term but slightly smaller cap-hit (he expressed disappointment at constantly changing teams and seems like he just wants to settle down with his family) they will do that and get a less impactful forward.

In the playoffs he was frequently on the ice as Hughes partner and with Allvin very plainly stating that he’d like to split up Hughes and Hronek, there’s a willingness to use him in an elevated role in his off-side.

Is Josh Anderson complete crap now?

Wonder if he is a buy low candidate.

Some salary would need to go the other way though unless a large retention.

He’s been injured a lot the last…well his career and his offense fell off a cliff.

There’s probably a way to swap Mikheyev for him but I’m not sure how to make it work for the Canucks given Anderson’s extra year and Canadiens not needing to clear money.

Zucker? Especially if they're trying to squeeze in Zads too?

I’d have to run the numbers again but with the roster I have earlier in the thread, if you subtract Desharnais and add Zadorova Mikheyev + 1m that still leaves them with about 4.5m for a 2nd line winger. AFP has Viktor Arvidsson at 3y/4.75m but I think he’ll come in under that and would fit the budget.

Big miss on that one. What did he call him today, a top-nine player? I think that's a bit generous, but even then you can get guys like Blueger and Suter out of the late stages of free agency pretty regularly.

I'm probably in minority but I'd like to see David Perron for 3M for a year or two. Doesn't add to the speed but intelligent players that is still physical. Scored at a higher pace than Garland did this year.

Perron was someone I thought of and his projected contract fits. I suspect he stays in the USA, though. Purely a hunch.

Possibly. Kapanen my other thought to come cheap, provides more speed than physicality. Rutherford has traded for him before. haha. I don't the Canucks sign a free agent over 4M this off season.

I think they will either go all out and try to bring in Guentzel or go for the middle of the pack 3-4m-types. There just isn’t any real trade ammo.

Kapanen doesn’t improve the team at all. Doesn’t help the top-6 and I think they’ll try to keep Joshua-Blueger-Garland together so he’d be a 4th liner. With Allvin specifically saying they need to bring in a top-6 forward with speed and creativity, they’ll have to spend a bit in the free agent market.

It would be nice to see most of the D come back.

Hughes
Soucy
Zadorov

Hronek
Myers
Juulsen

A lot of good pairings and compliments to each other. I think come playoffs you are probably looking for upgrade on Juulsen but that might be Willander (depending on his year) or someone else steps up. Woo or McWard. 16M ish to sign Zadorov, Hronek, Myers. I think it could done easily.
