Here’s my spreadsheet for upcoming UFAs, each team’s cap situation, and a trade tracker. I update the spreadsheet daily. I use CapFriendly to create this list and AFP Analytics for the contract projections.

Edit: Spreadsheet has been updated with AFP's latest projections and I added a new section for RFAs.

Not that Murphy isn't credible, but has anyone else mentioned it or explained what they know?
murph knows and sees stuff others don't. with his job he does not need to mine hard for clicks so he can be more discreet and he's also in the hallways and right around the action all the time. if i was a reporter i'd cultivate him as a source.

i do like that he stepped in to help hronek there.

Hronek definitely could’ve been a bit more diplomatic in his response but the way Patterson was questioning him it was almost as if he wanted Hronek to say, “I stunk”. I’m sure he’s not happy with how his play transpired down the stretch and into the postseason but he also probably doesn’t want to blame an injury, especially considering Cole flat out didn’t want to discuss his injury being a hindrance.
I actually was generally fine with his response.

On the first issue about whether Hronek knew why he wasn't producing in the second half I totally get his response. If he knew, he would have changed his game and it wasn't an issue.

On the second question, he answer "no" to the injury question.

I believe it was Paterson early in the playoffs mentioned that during a media scrum they noticed that Hronek's wrist/hand was severely taped up.
It's a big stretch to assume that explains poor play several months ago, which incidentally was the main thrust of Paterson's question as he phrased it.

I don't think Heinen will come cheap next year, love the idea of Sprong though. I think his game would mesh really well with Petey.
Guys who take a series of conspicuously undervalued short deals almost never seem to break out of being typecast. I don't think Heinen will get more than 2 years or 2M AAV.

I'm no Jeff Patterson fan but I also really turn my nose up at Hronek's attitude towards the questioning regardless of how Patterson might be viewed in comparison to his peers. I don't think the questions were that terrible. Also, despising the media and refusing to talk / do interviews to me is something I take issue with. You're a professional athlete, talking to the media IMO is part of the job, especially if you're asking to be paid amongst the leaders on the team. It would be like an office worker saying they refuse to answer emails, it sorta comes with the territory of the profession, no?

Hronek hasn't been in Vancouver long enough to cop that kind of attitude with the media - who serve as a conduit to the fans - and when his play doesn't afford him the "luxury" of acting entitled. J.T. Miller can get away with being moody from time to time because the dude brings it on the ice and is a warrior. Todd Bertuzzi was a surly grump too but he put up 80 and 90 point seasons.

Hronek rides the coattails of the likely Norris Trophy winner and puts up a couple of months of good play and think that he's allowed to act like a prick when the rest of his teammates owned up to their shortcomings or contract statuses. He might be well liked amongst his teammates but he sure doesn't look like he gives a shit about the fanbase and how are we to form a liking to the player when we're not able to get a glimpse of his personality and his on-ice performance doesn't demand it either?

Not a fan, Would not miss him a bit if he's moved.

Yet if he'd strung together 3 or 4 meaningless platitudes instead, no one would be complaining. I think fans and media are just too intolerant of introverted and/or private personalities. Like, if you asked someone a question about their life and they shut you down in a brusque but otherwise fairly polite way, you'd accept it and not think any less of them. Maybe he's injured, maybe he isn't, maybe there's more going on that would be tedious to explain, but no explanation is going to change anything and I just don't see that we're owed one.

What?

The last time Kylington and Zadorov were in the same dressing room was the 2022 playoffs. Kylington only returned from his mental health leave mid-season this year months after Zadorov had been traded.
you are correct. delete the word "better". i was mis-recalling the fact kyllington suddenly started skating with the flames the day after zadorov was traded. for some reason i was thinking his play picked up but in fact it was him being on the ice with teammates at all.

Dang Zadorov must have been bullying him.

Upgrading on Garland is near impossible, you’re looking at a 10M forward for an upgrade, just not worth it. Garland was unbelievable in the playoffs and is a part of the Core. Miller, Boeser, Garland were our best forwards, the playoff engines, we could move Pettersson but his anchor of a contract is likely unmovable
This is such reactionary silliness.

Yes, let's move the 25 year old two way superstar because he had a bad 3 months on a bad knee, and be uber sure that we build around two players who were deemed unmoveable even on waivers like 9 months ago.

This is just chasing your own tail logic here. I'm not even advocating we trade Boeser or Garland, but we trade 5 Garlands before we move a cornerstone player like Petey due to a bad stretch run and playoffs.
