Public Relations? The guy doesn't have a clue how to run a hockey team.

He thinks he does though and given that, I don't see him willingly accepting a move to a figurehead. Who cares I guess.....I was never a fan of the hiring anyway. He's a guy that was building Condo's and gyms when he was given the keys to run a pro Hockey team............it's an idiotic hire, really.

He can replace Fin.

Yeah but Fin is a foundational team piece.

Wish that could be true.

(not really related but I remember Larry Robinson ended up hated being a head coach & preferred being an assistant despite having some success as the head guy).

Just speculating, it's not like I got the impression ownership is bearing down on him. But like I said earlier, it's so bizarre for this to come out of nowhere from Friedman that something has to be there.

Tallon is in Russia for WHC so maybe Florida won't give him official permission to speak until after the tournament? Pretty sure whoever said the Canucks have to deny no matter what because of contract and collusion rules is correct

Where there's smoke there is fire. Lots of rumours about the Canucks shuffling up the executive office. It may not be Tallon but something is coming down the pipe id bet. Hopefully that scab loving bottom feeder de Bonis is on his way out...

Ok heres to do:

Fire Linden
Demote Benning to head of scouting
Make Tallon GM
Draft Tkachuck
Trade Edler 2018 3rd round pick and Mckenzie for Montreals #9 overall and Emelin
Trade Hansen at deadline for 2017 1st and 4th
Next summer when Tanev is all beaten up trade him for glory
DONE

He already got promoted out of the Canucks organization I thought? This is what originally lead to FriedMan's speculation......that Linden would move to more of the de Bonis role.

Any response as to why it would be problematic for this team to acquire more draft picks? Assuming Benning is such a draft guru like you and others claim, why wouldn't acquiring more picks be ideal?

Teams deny everything. Even when they gave willie a huge vote of confidence they still had exit meetings and organizational meetings and I'm sure coaching came up.

Because stripping and shipping your team for the sake of some lottery tickets is hardly worth it in every instance, like some make it out to be.

But Benning is a draft guru. Wouldn't he bring us all those high end prospects with all those draft picks? By your own admission, all you care about is drafting. So why would anything else matter?

Yes, the Canucks should "acquire more picks". At any cost.

Horvat for a 3rd, 4th and 5th. Tanev for a 2nd and 7th. Sedins for two 3rds.

What? You want "more picks", don't you? Or would those trades be problematic?

Speaking of Tallon, can you imagine the reaction around here if Benning forgot to fax qualifying offers to his impending RFAs?

anyone want to give me a summary? just clicked the thread and see tallon rumours..

Basically Friedman reported early today that there's smoke and rumours going around the WHC (which is where Tallon is) that Vancouver is interested in bringing him in. He also said that Tallon wants to be a GM again.

Then follows up with the Canucks saying they're not interested in the 2nd intermission.

That's about it. Most of us are just intrigued because the rumour was so far out of left field that it would be bizarre for Friedman to report it if his source wasn't somewhat credible.

There's not a person I trust more in the hockey community than Friedman at this point, so if he said it originally there's absolutely something going on there. He probably got a call from the organization which caused him to backtrack.
