Now is the important part of the phrase "puck-moving, top-4 D man with size" the puck-moving or the size? Because at this point, our puck-moving (outside of Quinn Hughes) really ain't it, Hronek isn't looking good in year 1 of his extension, and our size (Soucy, Myers, Desharnais) has been error-prone and underperforming.
I wonder if the need is to add another north-south, shoot-first type winger (someone to help Conor Garland out there, my goodness he was trying to solo it last game
... could be Joshua??) and then have someone wake up Mr. Hronek and Mr. Pettersson. We really can't have $19 million of cap space doing nothing but be hesitant and error-prone, and I'm not sure there's some quick fix in a trade that would correct things (plus it'd cost to have them take money back e.g. for Soucy/ Myers who likely goes back in the deal). The solution just might have to be from within.
