Looked to me like the Oilers just ran out of gas in the third period......this is normally a game they'd have at least forced OT. You look at their travel schedule, and it was something of a miracle they played as well as they did.

But the Canucks won't apologize for beating a tired team. Maybe this is the type of game that can get them on a roll.....but we've said that before.

Major difference in the 2 cross checks. Myers was reacting to a player coming at him. Yes it was a cross check but I don't think it was suspension worthy.

McDavid however, cross checked a player in the side of the head who wasn't even looking at him. I consider that way more egregious.
as far as the hold was concerned, McDavid held Garland down first, after Pettersson was held down at the other end. All 3 should have been interference penalties.

And the "everyone else has minors" should have meant 5 players for the Oil, and 4 for the Canucks, because Demko did nothing.

Not that it mattered ... Nice win by the Canucks, as I predicted at the start of the period, the game was already in the bag!

Oilers will whine about Garland holding him down but won't say a single word about literally the exact same thing happening to EP on the other side of the rink on the exact same play and the refs let it go.

They actually got some possession time in the Ozone in the 3rd period. That was at the heart of it. 2nd period was abysmal, but they lifted up in time.

Garland - Hate him on the PP, love him everywhere else. He played the refs at the end there. They weren't going to call him and he took advantage, but wow, what a retaliation.

Sasson - Had an excellent game. He was pushing hard and Hoglander followed suit. He keeps doing this, he's a mainstay.

Forbort - Terrible hands, but a rock defensively. Soucy can crater so long as they have Forbort. Has steadied Myers.

Pettersson - Not enough offensively again. Isn't skating well still, but he's giving it his all effort wise.

Miller - A demon on the dot. If this is his last game, what a way to go out. Tip of the cap.

Demko - Doesn't look right, but it is what it is. I'm not sure how long it will take for him to adapt to his new stance, but so much depends upon it happening soon.

Edit - Forgot to give credit to Heinen. He had one of his best games as a Canuck. Every player with smart and the effort was noticeable.


Edit: Generally, with some better passing and finishing ability, the Canucks finish this much earlier. It's still a problem, but it didn't burn them tonight.

If you want to be amused, go look at the penalties on TSN at 19.57. I suspect they will fix it but it presently pretty amusing.

Edit - according to it we had an extra minor, even though Demko wasn't listed.

Edit 2 - no majors listed, and 5 penalties were called "2 minutes for minor".

Edit 3 - they fixed it somewhat - however by my count ti should have been a PP for the Canucks.
