I think he was trying to cover the back door but I'm not goaltending expert. That goal gets scored on plenty of NHL goalies.

I've seen eddie make the same mistake quite a few times this season where his stick is doing absolutely nothing. There was no back door as Stempniak was out of real estate and only option was to shoot.

1) Green could be poached

2)Vey,Higgins, Dorsett bias over Kassian, Matthias, Horvat for PP

3)This team has won in spite of coaching, rolling 4 lines is a cliche this team is built with 4 lines.

4)Too many men penalties, and line choices have been garbage

5)Green has produced Corrado, and Biega to perform better than Bieksa and Sbisa, what else could you want

Green can't win a Calder. I think that's where the ridiculousness is coming from.

The Calder Memorial Trophy is an annual award given "to the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition in the National Hockey League."

The Canucks can also block Green from leaving if they so choose (as long as he's under contract) a la Detroit and Blashill.

For obvious reasons, yes.

They needed to find a way to get a point out of one of the last two games if they were going to lose the other regulation.

We're still at a 99% chance of making it in even with the last two losses, but that will drop significantly if we drop another one against the Kings.

It won't drop all that significantly. Especially if LA doesn't win tonight.

Guy we play the Kings next they're just as desperate as the Jets were today anyone else worried about losing a 3rd one in a row?

Won't be surprised. Looking at the team they have no urgency, it really pisses me off. They always have to show up with 5 minutes left. We really need Benning's culture to move in soon. Can't wait to see McCann, Virtanen, Cassels(Gillis), Tryamkin.

Jets fan coming in peace. Impressed with the Sedins still bringing it. Would love to see 3 Canadian teams in the west for playoffs. Would be very awesome if you clinched against LA ;)

May your team clinch and kill Anaheim in the first round. That is all. Now be gone with you, flatlander!

To each their own. I thought stempniak made a nice move to open him up.

On to the next.

4 of the 5 goals were grade A chances IMO. Would like a save sure, but not sure I can blame fatigue or poor goaltending on the loss.

He did say trophy so hence why I was confused.

But hey, Desjardins also won a Calder Cup and people act like he's dumber than a rock so...

Well there's the irony right there, that Desjardins himself won the Calder Cup last year.

I don't blame people for griping though. Desjardins is doing some pretty stupid stuff. He has done a good job with this team but is holding himself back with some of these decisions.

Yeah some of his decisions are stupid but claiming Green could out do him right now is pretty ridiculous.

People seriously overrate the contributions coaches have on a game to game basis. Unless you're Babcock or Torts, a lot of the onus is on the players to execute. I don't like Willie's PP choices (which is funny because it's actually running well at the moment) or some of his line matchups but there's really not a huge amount of room for improvement with this roster.

Hamhuis - Bieksa
Sbisa - Weber

Please WD, I'm literally on my knees praying, don't put Sbieksa together for another game.

It's more the timing of the goals that is a killer. Needs to stop the last two goals given the situation. I'm sure he will even admit he needs to make those saves. I was rather confident the canucks would tie when we were down 4-3 but it's pretty hard to get two goals late in the 3rd.
