underrated play: Weber's backcheck in ot to break up the hossa/kane 2 on 1. Nice to see that kind of hustle after he got himself caught.

Great game to watch - maybe the most exciting of the year. Kudos to the team for finding the stuff to come back and eke out a win. Given the differential in scorers amazing we won the shootout. Team maybe lacks finesse but has some grit

The Good

Lack - looked extremely solid in the shoot out. Positioning at the top of the crease allowed him to take away shot. Excellent save on Kane. Earning more starts and way premature but you wonder if they can turn this in another Schneider situation. Has looked damn good all season.

Santorelli - just another great game. If you are giving out the top forward award for this team you should have Santorelli. Should be put on the power play with the Sedins. Setting up people all night (especially Higgins) and was great on pk. He is as good a pk player as we've had this year and is the main reason the pk is #1 in the League

Tanev - His ice coverage is bailing out the team on so many of the breakdowns.

Hamhuis - stepping up and filling the void on the back end. Made the almost fatal slip up in OT but without his play in his own end the Canucks never see OT.

Sedins - poor first but then were dominate after that. Hanson was baggage most of the time and Burrows can't get back soon enough.

The Not as Good

Bieksa continues a string of mediocre efforts. At times it was Bieksa rather than Alberts that was screwing up assignments. I think with Bieksa it is mostly a mental thing. When he is in the right zone mentally he is on top of, and pushing, the play. However, when he gets like he is now he gets watching and loses awareness. I think a player that needs a good supporting partner to be at his best. Doesn't have that now and the glitches become more apparent

Other Thoughts

Looks like the only way the Sedins can score on a shoot out is if they to do together

Give Weber some credit for the back-check in the third. If he could ever gain any confidence might be worth something. Also after a poor start Alberts played fairly well. Showed that if you do give him more ice time he can play himself into decent game. He is going to make mistakes but very difficult for anyone to get into the flow if they are getting such limited minutes. They need him to work thru some of the problems he is having. Right now that is probably their best option

Kane is extremely scary. But I don't see why when someone picks him up they don't just stay with. For that type of player you need to have a particular defense. When I've coached against elite players I always gone with the idea that we cannot let that player beat us. If the others can, then good for them, but star player must be eliminated and shadowed out of the game. One thing you know about Kane is that where ever the puck is going or is, it is always coming back to him - and that's the thing you have to prevent. Bieksa on the second goal showed the completely wrong way of dealing with Kane

Garrison needs to keep his shot on net. Team is working hard to get him the puck and you hope he will get more accurate. His shooting in the last couple of games is reverting to the form he showed at the beginning of last year.

Really have to shake your head at Torts selection of shooters. Seemed random and hunch based. Team needs to be better prepared and know who works best against certain goalies. Strange because attention to detail seems a strong point for this organization.

Defensively? The argument can definitely be made. There's no way you can trade him, he's just far too valuable to the team.

He is in my opinion and the reason i think that is his speed, Hamhuis is amazing with his stick but he can't dash like Tanev can, Tanev's acceleration is amazing and his stick checking is almost on par with Hamhuis

I don't agree with any of this. Why? I am not going to explain myself. I am not here to debate.

Its dumb that Torts took so long to pick Kesler. I mean the Sedins are horrendous in the shootout, they are not even close. I'd seriously consider picking Alberts over them. At least he'll get a shot off. The Sedins go in slow and then deke themselves out. It's embarrassing.

Not really.. do you not remember his shootout attempt against Minny? He missed the net by a large margin

Yes, it was dumb.

Because even though Kesler and Higgins have't been successful this year, that doesn't mean you pick other options that clearly have less ability to score in SOs.

Torts said we suck in the SO and then puts out the Sedins when we have two chances to win it?

And then rolls out Kassian, Booth, Weber and Dalpe before Kesler and Higgins?

That did NOT provide us the best chance of winning the SO. Not even close. I was expecting my Gramma to lace em up after Dalpe missed. It looked like sabotage. Very poor coaching, no way around it.

Hi twins, do something DIFFERENT!!!!

Skate in, wind up, take a shot. First guy aim at his head. Next guy shoot low.

I d9nt get how Henrik has been money on every penalty shot he;s ever had yet he stinks at the shootouts. And theres no reason Daniel should be so terrible at it either, keep giving them chances maybe they will get better? :dunno:
