I think the Diff is last year. when we lose 6-3 the shots would be 40 them 20 us. the Diff for most of that game was better PP and goaltending by canucks and a few plays 7 men and the offside that did not go our way. Last year teams killled us 5 Vs 5 as well. Also we want to be more competitive but we still could use one more top 5 drafted forward if we really feel like competiting for playoffs in a few years. Reichel seems to be seeing some progress. Vlasic still is our best D and Soderbloom has been fine.

I've seen enough of Foligno on Bedard's line. He's f***ing terrible. TT isn't smart enough to play with Bedard either, but unfortunately he's the best option we have.

Loved it when Bedard took that intentional offsides because TT had his head down and wasn't looking for him. No way that wasn't on purpose.

I'm not worried about the lack of goals from Bedard coming eventually, but I will say it's still disappointing to only see 1 goal through 7 games.

...

And let's not forget that Richardson, for a 7th overall pick, is a colossal bust.
I think a bust is a highly drafted player who never develops into an NHL regular, not merely someone who wasn't as good as one would anticipate from his draft position.

To me someone who played 1,417 regular season NHL games, almost all as a regular and who on one occasion led his team in minutes played in a playoff game with over 35 minutes played (in a 78 minute game*) is definitely not a bust.

Certainly he wasn't a scorer, but as a defensive player under the rules as they were called during most of his career he was pretty effective.

Foligno talking about what he's talking about post game, when the first goal is him making a beer league level mistake(throwing the puck blindly up the wall on the breakout), rings pretty f***ing hollow.
Of course, HF Hawks will ignore the fact that Bedard flew the zone all the way to center ice on the first goal. Where did the play go? Right up the center of the ice! Everyone wants accountability and for people who make mistakes to sit, he's done that quite often and at best it leads to more digging out of their own zone and at worst, the first goal of the game on an easy skate up the slot.

This is probably the best thing to happen. We will learn what we need to know about Richardson and we can go get Cooper at end of season.

It was first live game I was at, there were a few chances, but Bedard mostly sucked last night. Lots of stupid blind passes that were just dead giveaways too.

Several times? lol. It was two seasons with Philly. That's it.

Their defense in the playoffs the season they went to the conference finals:

Eric Desjardins
Chris Therian
Luke Richardson
Dan McGillis
Andy Delmore
Adam Burt
Mark Eaton

I mean, f***ing lol

He was a plug.
Any Elmore. (No D) Have not heard that name in a long time.

But if Cooper gets bad goaltending..the flaws of Seth Jones and Connor Barfy
..the inability for Hawks to finish and Bedard gettibg stymied and only able to shoot 2 for 65 (over last 21HP) = Cooper will be roasted just like LR...no strategy genius is going to turn mud to gold.. it rest on talent and hockey sense ..I do notcsee how Cooper pr any coach makes these Hawks turn into sniping machines...nor expect him to turn S.Jones int a difference-majing 1D instead of the same problems over and over again....or turn Barfy into anything that gets pucks out of the d-zibe before anything bad happens.

It is what it is.. We need better hockey pkayers who dominatecthe ipps not get exploited by the opps..

The bloom is off the bush already this season..we know w the flaws...Thisx rebuild is 3 years fron being 3 years away fromekite contender...That isat least 5 more seasons in the wilderness After this season..

The goid news...Jones and Barfy long gone..Hawks finally gwt 2 difference-maker Centers and Bedard shuffled off to wing ..

The only good thing about Bedard's lousy goalscoring (over last 21 GP( is that If this persists the entire season ,his next contract will not be for that much $$$$ as we,all were worried it might..

Unless Bedard starts beating goaliesxwith hisxshots,he is not getting a big increase for the 2nd Contract..

A lot is beibgcaskedvof Bedard...putting gbup minus numbers at evens, failing to score goalson the PP and at Evens, getting easily "handled" by 4th line checking nobodies...is Not going to get him the big bucks.

For thise not worried (YET), theirvhopevisxtgat there must be better luck and a reversion to a higher mean in store for Bedard. That a higher % of his shots beat goalies as the season goes on...well,his S% must get better or panic is going
to set in among both fans And with Hawks Managenent..
I hope the unconcerned fans are correct ...and even if he just gets back to las

t season's 10.9% shooting that is acceptable...But a3% shooter from the top line p any team is just not acceptable.
Problem is Hawks have no 1C alternative solution.

I'll just put this out there - Kaiser is the Hawk's best d-man and the probably the best option to be PP-QB1.
At this time, no. That's Vlasic.

On the spectrum of terrible to great he's somewhere between "Kaiser is barely a prospect" or "32 out of 32 NHL GMs would take EDM over Kaiser" and your take Raptor.

I don't think Vlassic is playing as well as last season - he's had a few yips that we saw very few last season. I think Vlassic is the 2nd best d-man and I think he'll have a very good career - but I don't think he's a PP-QB because he doesn't have good lateral quickness and isn't a particularly good passer. Kaiser on the other hand is a very good skater with good lateral quickness and is a good passer. I hope LR gives Kaiser a shot at PP-QB.

Just one S in his name, unless you're trying to emphasize his drop off in play be inserting an "ass" into his name.

Bedard is exactly where he should be. Providing close support for the breakout. Foligno, instead of doing what he should have done(picking his head up, and making a 10 foot pass to Bedard....) decided to lazily throw the puck up the wall. Which is pretty much the cardinal sin of being a winger.

Let's watch Foligno after he gives Vancouver the puck and starts this whole sequence, shall we? Here he is gliding back defensively, instead of busting ass to make up for the mistake he just made. We can also see Kaiser completely f***ing up the coverage here. (44 is his man...)

1729714625558.png

And then here's Foligno with a half-assed effort at a stick lift/check, because he hasn't taken a stride in 3 seconds.

1729714740516.png

That goal is pretty much entirely on him. But you do you.

We can also see that this sequence is now....a 3 on 4 for Vancouver, since Teravainen is back in the zone.... So where Bedard is at this moment makes absolutely no f***ing difference.

Here's another angle of that weak ass play. The Vancouver defenseman is flatfooted at the blue line. Foligno basically passes the puck right to him. That puck has to be up and off the glass if it's not going to Bedard (who is 100% expecting the puck). Or you just fire it as hard as you can across ice and give Teravainen a footrace. What you CAN'T do is allow the puck to stay in the zone. This could have actually have been a 2 on 1 with a Vancouver player backchecking, if Foligno doesn't f*** it up. But yeah, let's blame Bedard here.

Since I have the highlights open, let's continue the theme of "the shitty veterans are costing this team". Here's what should have been goal #2 for the Canucks, if not for Mrazek robbing him. What, exactly, is Brodie doing here??? Covering NOBODY and just watching the puck. Great veteran presence.

1729715581907.png

Breaking down this film after the game would be f***ing embarrassing for the high school teams I've coached. This is supposed to be an NHL defensive system? Two opposing players behind your defense? Bold strategy, Cotton.

Here's the Vancouver power play goal. Might be the single smallest box I've ever seen on the PK. Literally nobody is in a good position to defend. Seth Jones should have been back near Mrazek, keeping the net front clear. If he is, that goal doesn't happen. Once again, you have your defender allowing opposing players behind you, unopposed. Then you have one of the most dangerous defenseman in the NHL being given 20 feet to skate in and fire a puck, unchallenged? Hughes could have taken another five feet before ripping this. Bold strategy, again.

This team is poorly coached.
