Rumor: Canucks have taken Elias Pettersson EP40 off the trade market

Good idea. Play a while with EP not having the smoke and fire around also having JT Miller on the club.

But they should be looking at Boeser trades if he's not going to resign. Letting him leave for nothing is foolish. Vancouver has NO chance at winning a cup this year. Even making the playoffs is an accomplishment. Why self rent a guy you can sell for real assets in a year where you're not a legit contender.

Because Boeser is only 27 yrs old and scored 40 goals while being a point per game in the playoffs last year and was clutch.

Maybe if he was 30+ but at 27 yrs old, signing Boeser to 6 yr deal is probably better than trying to replace the purest sniper the team has.

They might not be contenders this year but with Quinn Hughes in the lineup you try and go for it every year. Replacing Boeser would set the team back not prepare them to contend in short order.

They kind of informally took him off the market when they traded Miller tbh. You can't realistically trade them both unless you're rebuilding and Frankie can't spell rebuild.

I mean, it would be great if EP regains his form and justifies his contract but the optics with him are terrible. Even with Miller out of the lineup and not hurting his feelings EP was only average. Is he that fragile?
There’s a lot of rumours which I can’t post here (because it is speculative until there is an actual official report), but Miller did really bad things that made him go on a 10 game leave of absence, which was essentially sanctioned by management.

It’s a lot deeper than just those two couldn’t get along.

If he doesn’t bounce back at that cap-hit, fans will turn on him real quick…

His playoff performances are abysmal too. Moving him before the NMC kicks in might not be the worst idea.

He was never truly available. You don’t trade 100 point Selke level centers. One just lead his team to a championship last year. Along with a 100 point superstar dman in Quinn Hughes and a Vezina Calibre star goalie in Demko, they will be competing for championships especially with how great the d-core is going to be the next decade.

Vancouver has to make the decision prior to the TDL. I'd start with trying to resign him too, but if that doesn't work... would be such a foolish decision to self rent Boeser knowing he is very likely leaving as a UFA in July.

That's giving away a valuable trade asset for a very very long shot Cup run that is far more likely to end in a not going to the playoffs team or being round 1 fodder as a WC seed.

I'm not bashing Boeser or Vancouver here. I'm saying they should monetize his value if he's not going to resign before the TDL. The only stupid move by Vancouver in this scenario is to keep Boeser as a self rental. Y'all aren't contenders this year. He may net a 1st rounder in return. Or a 2nd rounder + an interesting prospect for your future teams.

He was available like every player without trade protection is available. If some team wanted to grossly overpay to the satisfaction of Vancouver he'd have been traded. The only issue I see with this is the way Vancouver management has been too public about dangling guys and then pulling them back. That cant' thrill the players who then call their agents who then call the team. Long term I don't think that's a good strategy. You want to quietly call around on a guy fine but don't admit it.

Is this guy legit? ...

Until there is a legit insider citing this ...the grain of salt that should be taken with this is massive

Is this the reddit rumors of Miller calling EP a name?

May as well wait and see if he gets some energy back at the Four Nations Cup.
I think it will be a nice palate-cleanser for Pettersson.

its been his tendinitis, BUT. we have established that he is also a elite athlete that is prone to long stretches of ineffectiveness. Until he can keep is inconsistencies short, he is not a top 15 player in the world, something that I was sure he was trending towards up until last year.

you still cannot sell him low, the untapped ceiling is too costly to give up on.
