Rumor: Canucks going after Rossi?

The price is not going to be high.

We see this time and time again where the internet rates a guy more than GMs do. Lekkermaki and the 15th overall is a joke. There’s not a chance in hell you’re getting that.

Rossi won’t have the luxury of playing with Kaprizov, Boldy and Zucc on other teams.

If Rossi plays with lesser linemates, he’s closer to a 5’9 middle six center that isn’t extremely fast or extremely skilled.

I’m very lukewarm on Rossi since he also needs a new deal. It’ll be 15th + a small add.

Based on Lebrun’s reports of the Canucks being the frontrunners, I have a strong feeling only reason a deal hasn’t been made yet is because the farm team are still playing and in the finals. Probably one of Kudryavtsev or Lekkerimaki is going the other way.
Won’t be Lekkerimaki. Unless it’s a one for one, which I doubt.

Lekkerimaki is our best offensive prospect. Trading your best forward prospect when your lacking forwards is really some 10d chess.

He has the rare one shot scoring ability and had 19 goals in 36 games for Abbotsford in his rookie regular season.

At the minimum he’s a top nine scoring winger who eats on the PP.

He’s also Allvin’s first pick and someone that he constantly raves about. It also just doesn’t make sense to give up a near ready top forward prospect when you’re team just lost two top six forwards.

1st + Mynio makes more sense to me. Kudryavtsev is a huge sleeper in this organization. He might be Abbotsford’s top defenseman right now… it just feels like he shouldn’t be a guy that’s moved. He can play both sides too.

When did Lebrun say Canucks are front runners?

No one trading for Rossi is playing him on the third line, and will, in all likelihood, be pairing him with someone at least as good as zuccarello.

And he isn't "extremely skilled?" Is that why a 5'9 guy who isn't fast got drafted top 10 and was being mocked as high as 3rd leading up to the draft? Why was he a consensus top 10 pick then? Because he's such a great teammate?

"A joke", "not a chance in hell", "it'll be"...I'm glad we have the omnipotent sensodyne here with his long track record of 43 posts to tell us for sure what's going to happen. Maybe you can give us the Powerball numbers too

Can't the internet rate Lekkermaki more than GMs do too?

Minnesota doesn't need a Dman in Kud much less one of Canucks lesser Dman. Watch it be another team.

When did Lebrun say Canucks are front runners?

He didn't. From LeBrun's report:

The Calgary Flames, the Vancouver Canucks and the Canadiens are among the Canadian teams looking for a young No. 2 center, but I would say among those three, the Canucks have the most interest in Wild center Marco Rossi. The Flames have mild interest (they would rather get a center with more size), and I don’t think the Habs are on that very much at all.

Less front runners and more (among Canadian teams) having real interest.

Yup. Lekkerimaki started being a healthy scratch a while back. Looks like he’s involved in a trade. Might not be Rossi though. Rossi doesn’t fit the profile this Van management targets.

With Garland and EP I can see VAN wanting to get bigger, or at least tougher, but it might be a case of you take what you can get. Young, talented C's like Rossi are seldom made available.
Lekkerimaki would be an odd choice for Guerin. It's true that he's taller than Rossi, but he is anything but physical, and a wing. Wild(and 75% of the league)needs talented C's, not so much wings. Guerin is also bleating constantly about having tough players who have FU in their game - that ain't Lekkerimaki.
It would be fun pairing Lekkerimaki with his old linemate, Ohgren, but in general, I just don't get trading Rossi for a Lekkerimaki + 15th deal, especially for a team that is under pressure to not just get in the playoffs, but to win at least one series. The fans will be getting restless in year 7 of the Bill Guerin experiment.

If the offer is less than the equivalent of a 1st and a 3rd, it makes no sense for the Wild. At worst, they keep Rossi for 25-26 and re-evaluate at the trade deadline.
A 1st can cover a lot of ground. 1st or 2nd oa is worth a ton, especially in this draft. A 15th, especially in this draft? Not so much. A 23 yo C who has scored 60 pts. is worth way more than a 15th and a 3rd rounder.... that's nothing. Look what MN paid for Jiricek, and he isn't even a NHL'er!

Again Canucks and Wild don't make really good trade partners. Canucks have a mediocre prospect group and all of their best prospects are defensemen. The only way I see a trade between the three is three way trade.

Wild want a player back for Rossi. Something Russo has been reporting for a while now, and seems like outside Media is catching on. Seems like if they can't get the Player they want, then maybe they would be open to picks to trade right away

You're going to be disappointed when the trade is made because Minnesota is not getting that much.
Lol you think some mid 1st in a bad draft, and canucks worst D prospect who would be beyond wild worsy D prospect and would never see time with wild because wild are stacked at both LHd and RHD for the next 5 years or more is going to be the return?

Even outside media is now catching on saying wild want a player back for Rossi like wild beat writer and fans have been saying for a while

Sorry. I read his post too fast. I thought he said the 1st and Lekkerimaki was a gross return.

They did discuss it's possible Minnesota accepts a pick and then flips that pick for a player elsewhere but generally sure sounds like it's all up in the air
