Speculation: Canucks Elias Pettersson on the move? Nucks GM speaks out

His best playoff run was the year he was… tied with EP in playoff scoring.

So despite half a career of playoff mediocrity before coming to Vancouver, Miller is a “better winner” because he outperformed EP in one post season?

But then other teams just beat that lousy offer. You know its gonna be 3-4 teams going after EP right?

Habs don't need the Islanders to make a competitive offer to the Canucks. If the Canucks like Barzal and want to use him as a full time center, that is their choice to make. All the Habs can do is make an offer and the one I posted is not garbage or a misfit offer.

Great for the Canucks. They can go into the playoffs with one or Aatu Raty or Kirby Dach as their #2 center. Certified recipe for success, you’re twisting their arm

Don't agree it's a lousy offer. Sorry.

I do agree several teams will be in on EP and maybe more than 3-4 teams. However, I don't see many 1/1 situations. Barzal is possible due to being a BC boy. The other offer we have seen was Cozens and Byram.

What other 1/1 deals or 2/1 deals do you see? I see a lot of teams offering 3+ for 1 type offers (like it or not)

Several years ago when EP legitimately looked like he'd be something special, vs now, are two completely different players.

So yes, Miller is way better than the turd EP has become

Canucks are making the playoffs? Maybe. It's very possible both the Canucks and Islanders miss the playoffs. Regardless, you missed the part where the Habs offer is after this season and after the draft lottery. If you want to offer Barzal now, go ahead. Habs can't offer any 1st until we see the draft lottery.

Oh the islanders are definitely missing the playoffs. And I don’t want to offer Barzal. But putting him up is more realistic than the NHL 25 offer you made where you keep adding a million pieces with “top 6 potential” that end up somehow equaling an all star. Who knows, maybe you’re right and everyone else is wrong.

Almost like the salary cap is a thing.

Take Miller off the Canucks they might not even make the playoffs last year, let alone win a round. Take EP off and they could find a much better use of that cap space

Not a million pieces. 3 solid NHL players with two very valuable 1st rounders. Helps the Canucks now and in the future. Exaggeration to prove weak points is annoying. You're playing the belittle game now and spins.

You do act like it's for sure given that 11.5 million is or will be spent wisely. (If they moved on from Elias Pettersson).

I mean we can look all over the league and see a total of 11.5 million spent worse between 3-4 players than on one player like Pettersson at the moment.

Context is important. This reeks of PK subban round 2. Looming NMC that kicks in July 1st and this time around, the NMC stays after the trade (CBA changed those rules). That's a very large contract to take on with lots of signing bonus structure most owners hate. It has to make sense from both sides and sometimes, that is difficult to sort out.

Not many teams will offer a Suzuki or Thomas type 1/1 deal. You have to see it from both angles. Who's going to trade a center 1/1 they developed and who is close to the same age and at a much less cap hit? Best 1/1 or 2/1 offers we have talked about are Barzal and Cozens/Byram so far. Lets see what else it out there because I myself is curious.

I see many teams offering package deals. There will be more package deals (3+ for 1) vs the 1/1 or 2/1 offers. Personally, I'd like to see fans spend their energy finding out the differences in the 1/1 or 2/1 vs the 3+ for 1 potential offers. That's why were are here right? Or are some here to just play the belittle game? :sarcasm:

I mean it's hard to find worse realistic value for that $11m than what they're currently getting out of EP.

But I can guarantee that whatever Miller's $8m is replaced with is an immediate and massive downgrade. He's simply one of the best values in the league
