That was a character win under the circumstances. Between losing Hughes fairly early, already missing three core players, and suspect officiating, the deck was stacked against them despite the Sens being such a mess. Imagine, in 2024, rolling out Travis Green as the coach to take your team to the next level?
Hronek was great, getting a first pairing RHD while not having to pay Horvat that contract is a very solid deal. Nothing against Horvat, he's a fine player, and ASP is tracking as a blue chipper, but they've been desperate for a player like this on the right side for years. Plus, Raty looks to have something to offer.
It was Soucy's best game of the year which I know isn't saying much, I thought Myers and Brannstrom looked pretty good together, and I didn't notice Juulsen too much, which is a good thing.
I'd give that Pettersson line a good quarter of the season, there's something there. Sherwood might just be his Burrows.
Garland was great, as usual, and the rest of the forwards had a very workmanlike effort. Good first game for Sasson, I like his wheels and would rather see him up here than Bains. The after game interview with his reaction to his dad was fantastic.
It was a game where I wish they had a face-puncher though, even it was just to oblige Tkachuk, who's a very immature captain.
