Wow. Really unbelieveable. With the flu and the injuries felt we'd get blown out. (and I hope we breathing heavily on the Oiler players). One of the craziest Canuck wins I can remember - maybe all those wins at the end of last year were not in vain.

Good

Boeser - lot of at the right place at the tight time but give him credit for going to the net and for having a great stick when he got there. On pace for 168 goals.

Pettersson - best player on the ice. Needs of lot credit for play in his zone. Get out the checkbook

PDG - another very solid game. got to be a believer at this point.

Hughes - actually minutes a bit down (likely b/c of score) but, per usual, was central to much of the good done in this game

Hronek - outside of the occasional misplay was I thought the best defenseman in the game. Long time ago you could say that about a Canuck defenseman with Hughes around

Garland - did so many big and little things well. Canucks need to get something if they are going to move him. He is a very handy player although still have many doubts about him being first line material. His commitment to both ends of the rink is excellent.

Demko - outstanding -gave up so little around the net. God help us if he is injured.

Cole - quietly very solid. Anticipate the play very well which makes job easier.

Lafferty - was good on the forecheck and took the puck to the net. Meat and potatoes type who plays an honest game. Podkolzin should watch how this player plays

Suter - very good game. Created turnovers and created chances. From game to game in the pre season and in this one has shown good development. HIs skating makes him a huge improvement over Dries.

Others

Kuzmenko - guy looked a little under the weather. Ok but lacked his usual spark.

Myers - had some very ragged shifts. Another maybe fighting the flu. (looked very fatiqued at times). He is only effective if he is getting quickly on the play and and staying on the front foot. Got pushed back into his crease too much.

Hirose - could see that lack of size hurt him in different situations. Has a ways to go

Juulsen - got better as game went on but obvious he is very marginal. Maybe with time he can do enough to not be a negative. Did go to the body well in the third.

Joshua - needs to move his feet more and not get into hooking situations

Hoglander - has to get more fluid in his play - too much stop and start. Did his best work along the boards in the offensive end. At his worst in defensive transition and in getting puck smoothly through the neutral zone and out of his end. Lafferty at this point is probably the better player.

Beauvillier - generally effective - especially on the fore check but needs better touch around the net.

Long ways to go but great start and at least tonite a good night to be a Canuck fan. One thing you have to like is the way they evenly distributed the time in this game. Of course, that was made easier by the score.
Always appreciate your reviews and insights @orcatown . Thank you for the time and effort you put in.

Man this shit pisses me off. There are kids at the game it's just embarrassing. Happy to see both the Oilers fan and the Canucks fan (got dumped at the end by security) got what was coming to them.

There was a lot of drunk and rowdy people wearing all different jerseys tonight. We didn’t see that one happen, but saw the aftermath of people being taken out by security.

What a game and what a win. This is the first season where I'm starting to believe. Our core has matured up and are at their prime. I think this is the year we get into the playoffs if everyone stays healthy.

Oh yea and Ian Cole, such a great pick up. Solid stable defensemen, reminds me of the Edler/Tanev days.
He also takes as many penalties as Edler

@2:30 mark

Gonna give him the benefit of the doubt, in the sense that i'm sure he had no realistic way of fully knowing what the situation was with Demko and the flu. Probably not an immediate priority after that kind of shellacking and being forced to go out in front of the media to answer for it.

But still pretty hilarious. "Wahhh they put in a backup during a blowout game".

It should've been pretty evident that there was some sort of extenuating circumstances to that weird move. Even if McDavey was too much of a wuss to actually get close enough to the net to realize Demko was heaving in his mask.

Pod and Hog can really lean from PDG and Lafferty

It’s the sort of thing that a guy who has been in the spotlight he has for the last decade should be smart enough to not comment on unless he knows the full story.

But he tends to default to being a whiner at every opportunity.

mcd always gave me serial killer vibes

but believe it or not i’ve never heard him speak until just now and it turns out he’s a totally other kind of serial killer than i thought. i used to think he was like a creepy dahmer-type serial killer but he’s really more of a goofy patrick bateman kind of serial killer.

Yknow, I've never felt like I understood the gradual transition people have made in their minds into thinking that the Oilers are a serious contender? They are, in a lot of regards, the same team that McDrai have had around them for years. Ekholm is the only serious addition they've made other than like... Hyman?? That moves the needle for them.

It's amazing that McDavid and Draisaitl can carry them to a conference final, but they hit a wall there every year, because the team is simply just not constructed in a way that will ever let them win at that level. Their defense blows, their coaching blows, their goaltending blows, their culture blows, their depth blows. None of this has changed since McDavid and Draisaitl got drafted, and yet they're odds on favorites that have Singh and DeBrusk talking like they're the team of destiny "fated" to win the Stanley Cup.

Who was the last Canuck to score 4 goals and is it Markus Naslund (07-08)?

The game I was thinking of was November 21, 2007 and no, he had 3 goals. But he did score 4 against Pittsburgh I believe in the Levesque backup game, that could very well be the last.

As @Regal said and I believe this to be correct - Daniel was the last with 4 against Detroit in 03-04. Totally forgot about that.
