I don't know how many players traveled outside Canada during the all-star break, but you have to wonder about the instructions they might have received from the Canucks medical staff.
From all reports, Hughes came in contact with COVID in the U.S.....and it may or not be a co-incidence that his brother Jack Hughes has also entered COVID protocol. I imagine one or both of them spent time in Michigan.
But the reality is that people are simply at greater risk in the U.S. than they are in Canada. Fewer people vaccinated; a lot of no mask-wearers and just a more laissez faire attitude about contacting or spreading COVID. And the worst part of it is that having been forced to quarantine in the U.S., Hughes will now be required to quarantine again when he returns to Canada--and as a result will miss even more time.
Too bad the Canucks didn't follow the lead of the Canadian Government and the World Health Organization--and urged people to stay home.
Jack Hughes was at the all-star game and all reports are that Quinn was not. Also, basically this whole (Canadian) team has gotten Covid the last two years so I'm not sure if there's really much to be said where players on the team will be safe from getting it.
Yep. And after the frustrations some players went through testing positive in the US and having to quarantine there before coming back, would have been nice to see players exercise some discretion and not risk missing games.
Agreed - seemed like an unnecessary risk given the border rules.
