I was kind of surprised how much heart and emotion Minny showed at the end.

Probably stood out because our lads seem more....subdued?
Goligoski was playing his 1000th NHL game. They did a pregame ceremony to get their emotional juices flowing.

The team celebrated like they won Game 7 of the cup finals since he scored the OT winning goal. He has only been in Minny for like one season... Must be a nice dude...

You do realize that there's only 64 games left in the regular season, right? Nope, it's hopeless. We should trade Aho for futures.
While I think they went a bit overboard with the roster changes, it's hard to get used to so many new faces and styles of play, etc.

At work, I have been enduring a just because reorg - no layoffs - someone just wanted to switch it up. It has definitely affected the momentum and productivity of successful teams...halted a lot of progress and is mentally challenging as well. So, I tend to empathize with the remaining Canes with all the changes. The new ones do not seem to be very impactful yet either.

I’ve said it the past few off-seasons, the roster turnover was going to catch up at some point.

I really liked the Stastny signing but that’s a spot where I feel like we could bring along a young guy like Drury or Rees. Gives them an opportunity to at least grow and mesh with some of the guys who you hope they’re going to play with for a few years to come.

It was a weird game. The Canes came out and dominated possession, but outside of the Aho goal, didnt generate much. Then the Wild responded in the second half of the first to get a few shots of their own. Same thing with the 2nd. Strong start by the Canes, response by the Wild in the second half.

Then the third, the Canes just went into a shell. I’m not sure if it was an intentional decision or if they were tired (Lots of really slow skating tonight), but getting only 2 shots in the 3rd period is very unlike them. And, of course, it burned them.

Honestly, the PP should only be looked at as a way to tick 2 minutes off the clock. At this point, there should be no expectations (from the fans) of a goal, a chance or even offensive zone time. They’d probably be better off just passing it around the neutral zone, because at least they wouldn’t be chasing the puck out of their own end.

The whole team offense should be looked as a way to tick 60 minutes off the clock, powerplay or not.

I’ve said it the past few off-seasons, the roster turnover was going to catch up at some point.
In fairness, two off-seasons ago, they only added Fast in the off-season and a number of posters complained about "we like our group".

There's definitely a delicate balance between too few changes and too many changes though. Problem is you don't know until you see it in play.

Canes have gone from:

18-19: 99 points
19-20: 98 points (pace due to Covid)
20-21: 117 points (pace due to Covid shortened + different divisions) - Almost no turn-over
21-22: 116 points - Lots of turnover (Dougie - ADA, all 3 goalies -->, 2 new goalies, Bean out, Foegele out, McGinn out, KK in etc..)
22-23: 105 point pace

The 20/21 and 21/22 seasons were great in the regular season but disappointing in the playoffs. I'm willing to take some growing pains in the regular season if it means better playoff performance. Only time will tell though. They do seem to be not playing full tilt to me, but I could be mistaken.
