I'm confident in Hanifin, so most of that is going to depend on Fleury/McKeown, whether Murphy can solidify his game, and whether Pesce can keep up his play.

It's not the most outrageous comment I've heard him make.

When only Faulk has proven anything? Yes. We do have a lot of young defensemen with high potential, but that's all it is at the moment.

And with this team, I've learned not to count my chickens before they hatch.

Oh Give me a break. I don't like Karmanos, but saying that that the Cane have one of the best defenses (down the road) with Faulk, Hanifin Fleury, Pesce, Murphy, etc.. is not an outlandish claim. Of course they need to prove themselves, but that's not the point. PK's comment was reasonable.
