That guy's such a tool for being honest.

He's not a tool, it's just a pretty boring answer. Chantel should have asked a question with a much more interesting answer- real news people usually do pre-interviews for exactly that reason, especially on short segments like that one. You want to make sure that when you only have time for one or two questions, you're getting interesting stuff out of your interviewee. Otherwise the segment is just going to be wasted time.

The crew jumps at any opportunity to mention the Canes won a cup.

I looked at the segment as just a nice way to give someone who goes completely unnoticed on TV a little face time as a way of introduction. Like was mentioned, some don't even know there is an organist. I don't really think Chantel needs to ask anything but a softball question for that type of thing to the guy. I mean, we're talking about a few seconds of filler and the organist not some slick-phoney news production.

Doesn't have to be a tough question, just something with a little more interesting an answer. You can get some nice face time for the guy and give the viewer something interesting at the same time, but it takes doing your homework first. Incidentally, setting the guy up to say something interesting will also make the TV viewers think more highly of him- he'll come off as interesting rather than, 'hey, that's the guy plays the music. Okay.'

John, Tripp, and presumably Chantel spend all day talking to the players and coaches of both teams in advance of a game. Presumably she knew this interview was coming- she should have had a 10 minute conversation, found an interesting anecdote or perspective, and asked him about that.

He's been critical of him for a while. In fact he's the first one I heard talking about East/West vs. North/South in regards to Semin a few weeks ago.

He's been harping on Skinner's defensive game a lot recently as well.

Jeezuz man, I'd hate to see you do a food critique on the presentation of someone's grandmothers Thankgiving dinner.

You honestly think less of the organ player based on one comfortable question from Chantel to a non-TV guy because the exchange didn't knock your socks off? For all you know he's terrified of being on-camera and comfort level for him was the priority, not to create via pre-coaching an "interesting" anecdote that will satisfy the hard-to-please in 30 seconds or less.
