I remember when I went skiing in Colorado for Spring break a few years back. We arrived in Denver and spent a couple days there and it was 70+ degrees and sunny. It snowed as he headed off to the mountains, but we spent a couple days at Keystone and it was perfect, about 30 and mostly Sunny. The day we decided to go to A Basin, the temperature dropped to about zero over night and it snowed (and we froze our ***** off). We finished off at Breckinridge a day later and it was almost 60 and sunny. It was: Put your winter gear back on as you ride the lift above the tree line, then peel it off as you ski back down, and at the bottom of the mountain, it was puddles and mud.

The worst temperature I every experienced skiing was in Vermont. We got to the mountain and it was 20 below zero that night and it never got warmer than -13 the whole weekend.

You can literally have four seasons in a day, and during spring and fall it isn't that unusual. It's a "layers" state, good idea to always have them. I used to work outside and there were days were I went through all of them and at some point was still sweaty.

Generally though it's sunny and warmish. You can't believe the difference being a mile high makes with the sun. If the sun is out it automatically feels ten degrees warmer than whatever the actual number says.

In the late spring through mid summer we have violent thunderstorms in the late afternoons, that blow over in ten-twenty minutes.

I remember that from seeing my aunt and uncle in Colorado Springs a couple of years ago. One morning, it was 50 degrees outside and we ate breakfast on their patio because it felt like 75 as long as you stayed out of the shadows.

I talked about the cold, snow, etc.. but this is what is probably the hardest for places like Buffalo and other similar northern places (especially ones that get a lot of lake effect snow) in the winter. The lack of sunlight. It really does impact peoples outlook and even causes depression in some. Clear skies and sun make a world of difference.

Right, so guys are flying in left and right taking swipes/shots at Skinner, he retaliates/protects himself and gets the majority of penalty minutes. Perhaps I'm misremembering, but I didn't think Skinner even had the puck when Risto took that run at him. How did Risto, with all of his late shenanigans, not get penalized prior? Hell, even penalizing BOTH Skinner and Risto earlier in the game would have prevented all of it. Instead, Skinner gets a few warnings for chirping at the refs, yet Risto continued all of his physical ******** the entire game. Sticks and stones, you ****ing *******.

Skinner had just chipped the puck so it wasn't a hit they could have penalized there. He could have been called a dozen other times for various ******** though, certainly.

Ristolainen seemed to me to be quite the **** on the ice. Just seems to always get in that extra slash or shove away from the play. For this reason I enjoyed Risto getting donked on by Nordstrom with that spin move goal way more than your standard defender.

Outside of that last run at Skinner, I had no problem with what Risto was doing. It's a part of the game that Carolina obviously doesn't partake in.

I have no problem with anything Risto did at all. In fact, he should be doing that if the refs and Canes were going to let him. To me it's a small part Skinner needing to not let it bother him, and two big parts of the Canes not doing jack **** about it and the refs not doing something before it got out of control. They could have easily called coincidental minors early on and it would have ended.

Whatever though. Move on. It won't be the last time the Canes play like a bunch of pansies.

You keep coming back to the lack of sunlight/sunshine. That's actually the thing I hate about living in Texas- too much sun. It doesn't take long before I pine for a nice, moody, cloudy day. I don't mind putting up with rain occasionally if it means I don't have the sun beating down on me.

Yes, I do, but I'm not talking about Summer/Fall. The lack of sun in the winter is a huge issue (for me and many others) and for some, actually contributes to depression. There are many studies that show lack of sunlight reduces seratonin levels which in some, leads to depression and I've seen it with people I know.

Summers are gorgeous up there so I'm not talking about that time of year where you'll get a mix of cloudy and sunny days, just the months from Nov-Mar where it is grey more often than not, particularly with lake effect snow.
