It's a great deal. It has risk like any deal like this, but this is one of the guys you have to break your rules for and I'm glad they did with no fuss. He will be an easy Canes HOFer by the time all is said and done and probably a great candidate for number retirement if they don't have any weird rules now that they have the Canes HOF. I half wonder if just given how Slavin is if he'd even be more likely than most to just bail before the contract is over and retire if he is just done or not playing well. I don't know that he's the squeeze every penny out of the situation type no matter what.
