Well there was that rumor a while back (main trade board I think) that Faulk would end up back in MN once his current contract was up. Personally I think Faulk is a very, very good player but not irreplaceable. Unfortunately for young Justin, he's under contract for another 4 years on the most affordable #1 defenseman contract in the NHL. That, my fellow Americans, is a chip in the big game.

Ron Francis is in the driver's seat. He can choose to say "**** you to Faulk, you're a Hurricane until 2020". Sure Justin can hold out or publicly demand a trade or whatever....but I doubt that any of that comes to pass. Because, in the end, Faulk and his contract may be the most valuable asset the Hurricanes possess. If Faulk and Minnesota want to be in bed together, the it's gonna cost....a lot.

"Sure Justin we'll trade you to the Wild.....for Charlie Coyle, Nino Niederreiter, and their 2016 1st round pick....heck we'll even throw in Winnipeg's 3rd".

And that's not even the best value we could likely extract from a Faulk draft day trade (Edmonton, is that you on the phone?) if it even or ever comes to that.

Still, I just find it hard to believe that Faulk wouldn't see the opportunity here...up to and including potentially wearing the C. If he can't see the future for the trees, then he's not quite as smart as I certainly thought he was.....but like I said, I personally think it may be much ado about nothing.

Your sarcasm meter may need adjustment.

You are more than welcome to believe what you want, after all, I did say "for what it's worth". The information may or may not have come from an anonymous "buddy" who may or may not have any credible sources or any real insight, but still, I'm a bit surprised to see people on the internet are questioning it.

What I meant by that, and I know I'll get flamed for this, is it wouldn't be that big of a deal as he'd get moved for what was likely a kings ransom. Hate to lose a #1 defenseman, but given what I'd perceive to be the/any return, the team would be seriously buffered....and might end up in better shape.

Edit: cuz in the end, Justin holds very few cards and Ron Francis holds the straight flush. If he holds out or requests a trade then he likely ends up in Edmonton....and hows that gonna work out for him.

To be honest if we don't start becoming a playoff team in the next two seasons I wouldn't be surprised if guys like Faulk and Skinner are wanting to be traded.

I mean, I'm not saying I know who your friend is, but if he is who I think he is, and his friend is who I think it is -- and I'm not saying his friend's name rhymes with Don Kansas, but it might -- then I think you know that I know that these things are usually pretty solid coming from somebody like that. A guy whose name rhymes with Don Kansas doesn't just associate with his dry cleaner's best friend's uncle's neighbor's nephew to just make stuff up and spread rumors, this is gotta be the real thing we're talkin bout here. Justin Falk is 100% a locker room cancer and by this time next year the candycanes are going to be the new Nordeeks, and you can bet your sweet bippy on that.

We might just as well do a "Value of: Justin Faulk" on the main board since rumors are that he's healthy but refusing to play so he can get moved from Carolina. I don't think the fact that he wants to move will affect his value though.

So I'm completely at a loss for who to cheer for tonight. My usual "split the season series" plan has been foiled by this being the 5th Pens-Canes game of the season. Both teams need the win. Guess I'll have to wear one of these tonight

I guess the 11 kinda makes sense, but the 12?

That 11 doesn't even make sense since it's one of those darned Chinese knock-offs that gets something wrong that a jersey nerd can pick out a mile away -in this case the numbering (and maybe the letter set - can't tell 100% due to angle) is totally off

Well, I'm not jersey nerd was just talking about at least Jordan played for both teams...so that part of it made some sense (Chinese knock-off not withstanding).

I've picked PDG to get the first goal of the game every since he's been brought up.

Maybe tonight's my lucky night.

Wow. Skinner with a nice play behind the net. And Terry with a nice initial shot and net front presence.,
