I never thought I'd be still using the EOMRS (TM by Hank) theory for 7 straight games, but the team is 3-0-3 since the deadline and points are points. This team continues to surprise me, which IMO is a huge testament to this coaching staff.

Philly has now moved into the final wild card spot and are on fire right now. The Flyers are 5 points ahead of the Canes and the Pens are 7 and each have a game in hand.

Hey, quick question: what's the timeline on Justin Faulk returning? I have a superstition that he's a big part of, so thanks for whatever help you can offer.

Take it for what it's worth, but I have a buddy that told me that Faulk isn't really injured, but just refusing to play. I can't go into the reasons why he isn't playing as that might give my buddy's identity away and he wants to remain anonymous. I will say this though, it's not good news for the Canes.

I am so sick of this ****.

Ronnie just needs to cut bait and trade him for whatever he can get at the draft.

Is BBA parodying people on the BoH forum claiming that their friend works for Quebecor and that the 'canes are going to Qiebec, or is he serious?

I have a solid source telling me that Malkin isn't really injured and he and kessel are going to switch jersey's and reenact Mighty ducks 2.

That is a key point. Faulk has been in Carolina for 5 seasons now and still only has an Apartment/condo...as in transient.

Here's a quote from him.

While living on a coast with winters much milder than Minnesota has its perks, Faulk admits that coming back home during the offseason is even more rewarding.

“I think it’s just having fun with all the guys that are around,” Faulk says of his fellow Minnesotan NHLers. “Look at all the NHL players who are from here and they always come back and live here. It makes it that much more fun to come together and hang out. There’s just nothing else quite like calling Minnesota home.

You know, I'm also worried Hanifin is going to be the next Faulk. I saw something on TV a couple of weeks ago that makes it clear his family and friends like him and he seems to like them back. I can't imagine him not going to Boston once he hits UFA (assuming he doesn't demand a trade before then).

If I was a 23 y/o multimillionaire I'd probably stick with a low maintenance apt/condo too.

If it makes you sleep better at night by thinking that way, then have at it. I, for one, refuse to just stick my head in the sand and ignore the obvious.

You guys are all idiots.

Clearly Faulk wants to be a Maple Leaf. Everyone wants to be a Maple Leaf, so why wouldn't he want to be one?!

Well there was that rumor a while back (main trade board I think) that Faulk would end up back in MN once his current contract was up. Personally I think Faulk is a very, very good player but not irreplaceable. Unfortunately for young Justin, he's under contract for another 4 years on the most affordable #1 defenseman contract in the NHL. That, my fellow Americans, is a chip in the big game.

Ron Francis is in the driver's seat. He can choose to say "**** you to Faulk, you're a Hurricane until 2020". Sure Justin can hold out or publicly demand a trade or whatever....but I doubt that any of that comes to pass. Because, in the end, Faulk and his contract may be the most valuable asset the Hurricanes possess. If Faulk and Minnesota want to be in bed together, the it's gonna cost....a lot.

"Sure Justin we'll trade you to the Wild.....for Charlie Coyle, Nino Niederreiter, and their 2016 1st round pick....heck we'll even throw in Winnipeg's 3rd".

And that's not even the best value we could likely extract from a Faulk draft day trade (Edmonton, is that you on the phone?) if it even or ever comes to that.

Still, I just find it hard to believe that Faulk wouldn't see the opportunity here...up to and including potentially wearing the C. If he can't see the future for the trees, then he's not quite as smart as I certainly thought he was.....but like I said, I personally think it may be much ado about nothing.
