I will not look at the CBJ-EDM score and think of the potential positives of that combined with a Canes win tonight.

Shit, just checked the score...4-0 EDM w/ 12mins left in 3rd...jinx...

I will watch the Checkers game instead tonight as penance.

Hey guys, I'm having an argument with my wife. How many times do you think it's acceptable to wear a pair of jeans between washes?

I'm like two, maybe three, assuming there are no obvious poop/grease/ketchup/mustard/bbq sauce spots on them. But she's all, no, you should only wear them once.

I mean, it's not like I'm out here working construction or running a marathon. I sit my fat ass in an office chair for 8 hours. I'm not getting sweaty. I'm not getting dirty. It seems wasteful to wash them every time. Plus I only have like 3 good pairs, if I was to wash them every day I'd need at least 6-7 pairs with the current laundry schedule and that's like $100 minimum.

ETA: oops thought this was the lounge thread

I'm really confused. You're supposed to wash jeans?

I do not wash jeans unless there is a stain or a smell. There’s no reason. And the jeans become closer to retirement with every wash. Under most circumstances I would say whatever your wife says is the right answer to avoid a needless argument, but this is a hill to die on.

You should wash them ca. once a month. Of course if something major happens then you wash them right away. That's at least how we get instructions in Finland.

Be careful with this type discussion with most females! I wasn't (careful) and wound up in the drycleaning & laundromat business for over 10 years! Just let her wash the damn jeans!

it's a good point

on the other hand, I could just order like $500 worth of new jeans and be like ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

- spend a bunch of money on new jeans, make her mad
- keep on what I've been doing, make her mad
- don't buy new jeans and wash jeans every 3 days, make me mad

it's more or less a Kobayashi Maru scenario, so I might as well get my digs in

Yes but we are Finland. If we would have to wash jeans after only one (1) use, we would wound up walking home pantless whenever there's an spontaneous sauna at an off-home site.

Allow me to provide the Kirk solution:

1) buy cheap jeans
2) wear good jeans to work
3) throw cheap jeans in wash

Then again, Kirk didn’t have many long relationships did he?
