GDT: Canes @ Boston: 7 Games to Go

Does anyone know if Kotkaniemi played another shift after his lower body issue?

It continues to astound me how little info there is on Canes twitter re: these sort of things.

Canes twitter is one thing but the Canes broadcast acted like MI5 with no info for quite some time. Too busy talking about Buffalo & other nonsensical stuff.

Don't you dare go stealing my thunder

Also, Tripp’s commentary last night was wild. Suggesting we break from the established rotation to start Freddie against Buffalo and essentially use Kotchetkov as a sacrificial lamb against the Caps was so far beyond the pale.

Because of Ovechkin? Or because in a chippy game, you don't want your starting goaltender getting run into?

"So far beyond the pale?"

Yeah, there are plenty of things going on in the world right now that would fit that description. This ain't one of em.

I assumed it was because of Ovechkin. Tripp probably realizes that there’s a high likelihood that whoever starts against the Caps will be the goalie that is etched in history as giving up THE goal and he doesn’t want that to be Freddie.

Because otherwise, why would you break from the rotation and not start the goalie that has looked FAR better in recent games against the tougher opponent? And allow Kotchetkov to try and regain some confidence against a Buffalo team (that has, admittedly, looked better of late)?

Well it’s officially a moot point now that Ovi has broken the record….let’s keep the rotation as is and hope Pyotr can get back in the groove versus the Slugs…

I think you change it up at some point to give Kochetkov the final game and more rest to Freddie.

But I think you wait until the final 2 for that.

Buffalo Kochetkov
Wash Andersen
Rangers Kochetkov
Toronto Andersen (B2B)

2 days off
Montreal Andersen
Ottawa Kochetkov (B2B)
