Historical footnote: as time expired and players started throwing their gloves and helmets up in the air, Jaccob Slavin calmly unbuckled his helmet and placed it on the ice, so as not to create an unnecessary hazard.

It’s crazy how not “all in” this team is. I don’t think it can be overstated. This team is constructed largely of the “retool” that happened a year ago where we traded a better, more “win now” player for a younger guy and draft picks. Then at this year’s deadline, we did nothing. We acquired a guy we’re going to have to petition to even get his name on the Cup.

Tulsky understands this deck building game in a way that really jives with my sensibilities.

A lot is made about the Tulsky/RBA odd couple.
I don’t think they’re best friends. But there’s a chemistry there that can be summed up by “the machine.” I’ve loved that phrase to describe our system when it’s working. But that’s Tulsky’s approach too.

The machine in the front office created the machine on the ice, and we’ve got all the assets required to do it again. Go find your Marchand, Tulsky. And let’s go do it again.

Canes fans, what is the reaction of the local Raleigh people compared to the 2006 cup win ? People are more aware of the team, the journey of this core, and more invested in this cup win or its about the same ?

I guess two more decades allowed the canes to put deeper Roots and have a bigger cultural/social presence in the city of Raleigh.
