Post-Game Talk: Canes beat Leafs 6-3

New format here is terrible at least on my phone, brutal navigation and hate the dark presentation. I didn’t find it that bad when at my desk this afternoon.
Hopefully just temporary

That first 10 minutes was as good as anything this season then 2 goals allowed on one first line shift in 17 seconds, crumble city after that. Way too much room at the point for shots/deflections, let the coaches sort through that mess

It's better for your eyes at night and will help you sleep no cap. You are just spurging because you don't handle change well.

pretty dumb, do better. Probably beyond your capabilities but challenge yourself

I didn’t watch that closely tonight, were they directly responsible for all the goals or was it just one of those nights?
1st goal - weird rebound by Woll lands in front of Robinson, who has Marner & Matthews next to him; Marner reacted too late to stop the shot
2nd goal - centering pass from behind the goal line goes to Staal, who has Matthews & Marner on either side; neither one stops him from shooting the puck in
3rd goal - Nylander fumbles a challenge in the neutral zone on the PP leading to a 2-on-1; Marner angles off the shooter on his off-wing backhand (i.e. no threat to score at all) instead of taking the pass to a wide-open Staal
4th goal - an easy entry where Knies was the last forward back; the pass goes to blake who effortlessly walks around OEL to score a kinda soft five-hole goal. Not really either of M&M's faults.
5th goal - Rielly loses his man along the boards, who passes all the way back to Burns at the point. Matthews missed tying up Staal for the tip. Honestly that pass from Martinook on the goal line to Burns at the opposite point was kinda nuts; that shouldn't have worked.
6th goal - blind backhand pass from Matthews to a covered point with the goalie pulled.

Soooo yeah there's really only one goal against out of six where you could say M&M had nothing to do with it.

Thanks for the summary. Sounds like a rough night.

Pretty much.

kind of interesting that the top line was a -5/-6 tonight when some of them were a +6 just a couple of games ago which hadn't been done in a while. weird how those types of things sometimes even out.

Started off alright but the entire team looked lackadaisical and a step behind the play

Woll struggled but he's played well and he's going to have a bad night now and then, the first line has been good recently to but they came to earth with a thud

A much needed wake up call to the entire organization, we've been average lately but getting by on talent, defense and goaltending

Hopefully we start playing harder over the next few weeks

yeah, a bunch of world beating all-star selections until they play good teams. Flyers, Flyers, Islanders, Islanders, Boston, Detroit.

Against Capitals? Dust.
Against Jets? Dust.
Panthers? Dust.
we look like we're playing the prime Penguins against the Flyers too. Unbelievable struggle to win against a bad team.

This is only the 2nd time I've done this all season and the first time was Matt Murray.

This one is on Joseph Woll, people will say it's the defense's fault but Woll gave up goals 4 on the first 15 or 16 shots you can't do that.

The 4th goal was particularly bad you can't give that up especially since Matthews had just tied it you can't give that up that's a back breaker you need to have that.

That being said while I do put this one on Woll I'm not upset they just won 5 in a Row,

Woll has been great for the most part all year

Still 4 points up on Florida

Still 2 points out of #1 in the east it's fine, it happens, it's MAYBE their 3rd true stinker all year and we are in the 2nd week of January it's fine.

They weren't going to win the next 38 straight games to close out the year that wasn't going to happen.

at the end of the day nothing changed.
