The other so ****ing Canes part is that the 31 games before that, we were playing at a 103 point pace. So that will just lead to those lovely quotes from management about "Oh, we were playing at such a good clip there for a while. We just need to start better, and finish better, and not suck on the road, and blah blah blah, we did nothing in the offseason because those 31 games!"

ETA: "LOL, we drafted Liljegren *******!!!"

Back you wretched soothsayer! Back!

Lost twice to the worst team in the league. They even made us look like the lesser team. It's not like we just got out worked, we got out worked and out skilled. Twice. That's not a fluke. This team should be last in the league. Yet somehow, we'll be just outside of a top 5 pick and somehow think we're gonna magically make the playoffs next year. Even with a #1C it's gonna take a lot more.

The biggest problem is that something like #5 pick won't help much in short term. RF must be creative this summer and find a way to bring top forward (Landeskog, MacKinnon), even if that mean we part a way with the pick, Rask or even Faulk. That's unacceptable, we need splash and something different, we need to shake the things up.

Keep playing like this and we'll easily slide into last place.

Didn't stay up for this one.

I'm ready for the regular season to end. But I hope that Francis is ready to make some bold moves in the offseason. We have a good young core, if we can get a top 5 pick and then make a splash for a 1C and 1G, maybe a UFA RW. We should be a #3 Metro Team. This season was an anomaly for teams pushing for the playoffs.

I don't see any way we become a #3 team in the Metro next year, even if Francis goes hog wild. Even with the moves you suggest, we'll be lucky to be #5. We aren't getting a superstar 1C, or a top NHL goalie as those just aren't available.

Right.
1) Francis isn't going to go nuts this offseason
2) Even if he does, we aren't a top 3 team.

I get this funny mental picture of Ron going hog wild. Running around answering phones, pointing in arbitrary directions, yelling, kicking water coolers, laughing hysterically, .... crying.

CBJ is having a career year.
#5 over Islanders, that would be probable with 3 good players added

The things that *is* true is that this off-season will be like no other, given 2 (at minimum) unusual factors: 1) expansion draft and 2) static salary cap. Don't forget that the decline of other teams has much to do with the potential of next year's Hurricanes.

I do get that and considered that with my response. I just don't see the Canes surpassing the Caps, Pens and both of the NYR and CLB to be #3 in the Metro. That's not even taking into account they need to pass the NYI, Flyers.

Not joking at all. Anyone who categorically says all other teams feeds are awful is just being a homer IMO, or hasn't watched these feeds. I watch the other teams feeds many times (not all the time) for various reasons:

1) Tripp is awful, not just sometimes, all the time. He adds no insight to the game which is his job.
2) I like to hear what opposing team's broadcasters think of our team as I think you get a more honest assessment vs. "towing the company line" like you get from the Canes home feed. Other announces are more apt to give an honest assessment. Their color commentators also have the ability to give actual insight.
3) And while Forslund is good, there are other good announcers as well. He's not "too good to pass" and in fact, sometimes I tire of his same catch phrases as well. Although, with how bad this team is he barely uses "Cam Ward says no" or "That's hockey baby" or " Hey, Hey, Waddya say".
4) "Ah man, now I want wings" adds to the long line of bad commercials that Canes fans have come to know and love.
You got some good points, I agree with you but, one thing for sure, our announcers are not that homer. I have had a situation when I needed to watch Canes, and I didn`t care which feed I will get, I only wanted to see the game. There are many teams who are so much more homer than Canes feed. Tripp might be bad, but he is honest, and if we get a penalty, he will probably agree with decision, same goes for Forslund. They might not always say everything they think about team, that they are bad, or that there is lack of talent, but that`s only because that`s is their job to point out good things. While the game is on our feed says good things about both teams, not just about Canes.

I would say there is only few American feeds what I can watch, because most of them are just too homerish for my liking. Canadian feeds are another story, but god damn some other city feeds are awful. There is no excitement when opposite team score, they talk **** about penalties even it`s a legit penalty and so on.

I am not saying that our feed is the best, or all others suck, but I think our feed is top5 in the league (I am not counting National feeds)

Talking about the game - I just wasted more than 2 hours for this ********, I am really disappointed..

Meh, they are still homers, which is to be expected. More to the point though, is they are Hurricanes employees. They tow the party line and don't always give the straight scoop and it's nice to see that from other teams' announcers.

The Canes broadcast crew is unique in this, because they are not. I say this because I often listen to other feeds on a regular basis. Sure, there are some overly homer ones (like Boston), but I find more often than not, announcers of opposing teams are honest, call it like they see it, and say good things about other teams. Heck, you should listen some times to what they say, especially about the Canes D.

Meh..for me, it's decent, but not great. Tripp is awful, Forslund is one of the better PBP guys, but in terms of the overall broadcast, it's middle of road for me. Each to their own. I accept that for you, the Canes broadcast is the way to go and that's fine. But it's not one size fits all and I like to hear others as well.

They tow the party line

Only because I know you'd care to be correct about this: it's "toe the line", not tow.

And homer or not, and regardless of how awesome is Forslund, Tripp is terrible, and the commercials so repetitive that they become insufferable. Furthermore, Boom's point about hearing what other teams broadcasters think of our team is refreshing. It tends to be generalized commentary, but it really can be a tonic when you're feeling pessimistic about the good guys.

Boston's crew can be over-the-top homer at times, but they're also one of the better duos in the league in actually calling a hockey game. Both Edwards and Brickley seriously know their stuff, and Edwards actually calls a game more or less down the middle when it's not some overly emotional matchup against the Habs or something.

I think a lot of people get their impression of that crew from "worst of" compilations, but on a nightly basis I'd take them over almost any other broadcast in the league. It's top-notch.
