What's also annoying is strawmen. Nobody thinks Gilbert is an elite defenseman.

What the statistics show however, is he's been a consistently reliable middle pairing defender who is great at keeping possession.

He's also soft as butter and there's no stat that shows it.

But yes, he's better than Murray. And Gorges had good advanced stats too, even if his strengths are radically different.

I dont get how advanced stats work, so obviously my comment was superficial and very vague. I just find it crazy how people bash on Gilbert, when he's getting paid to do what a 2.8m defenseman is paid to do. Its not as if he's causing us to give in goals every shift. [Excluding today's game ]
