It's for a few reasons, he heavily tapes his left hand and wrist (glove hand) to provide more rigid support when holding his glove hand up. On top of all of that, he uses a glove that is extremely stiff and hard to close. For two reasons, one being to prevent against stingers in the palm, and secondly because he chooses to use his glove as a blocking tool when he holds it up. It stays wide open to provide more blocking surface area.

All these things together make him feel better about stopping the puck. Puck handling comes secondary to stopping the puck.

Or it's a skill in which he is mortal.

Hagelin's corsi rel is near -60% through first 2. 11 attempts against, 2 for, when he is on the ice, all situations.

How in the world?

Alex Kovalev is in the building wearing the locker room hat and t-shirt from the 1994 Stanley Cup championship. :yo:

Lundqvist is actually average+ at playing the puck, IMHO. He rarely flubs it a la Fluery and is usually among G leaders in assists.

He is usually safe and a lot better than he was when he joined the league. Still doesn't come out to play the puck away on breakaway chances enough.

Josh Gorges on @hockeynight: "This is our last chance, our last period, so we've got to find everything we got and have a helluva period."

Gorges guaranteeing our victory?
