Yes, but expecting Cowan to be the best player on a team with McKenna were unrealistic expectation in the first place.

Most GM's in this league won't trade their top prospects on Team Canada for Cowen.

The 19 year olds are supposed to lead the way in this tournament and Cowan is definitely among the group of key 2005 borns for Canada who are supposed to be their top guys. You'd be throwing a different fit if I suggested he wasn't.

If you think expectations were too high, I'd address that with your own team's fanbase. They definitely have Cowan billed to be an elite prospect

Some random thoughts as a Canadian fan.

Refs were fine. Canadian penalties were brain dead. The team isn't even playing physically, they are playing dumb. 4 penalties were egregious. That's on coaching IMO.

Canada can't generate offense. If you can't generate offense you sure as heck can't play shorthanded for 16 mins or whatever it was.

Players looked completely disjointed 6 on 5. That's coaching.

I can't speak to roster selection as I don't watch enough CHL hockey, but I was shocked Yakemchuk didn't make it after watching him tear up the NHL pre-season. I figured they had some dynamic d-men, but doesn't seem to be the case. I've seen Bonk for years and he's fine, but not dynamic.

Luca Pinelli, love him on the 67s. But kind of surprised he's featuring for Canada as he's got good hands and hockey sense, but he's also pretty slow for a small guy and not all that dynamic. Why do you want him for a best on best tournament?

Canada needs more dynamic players on the ice. If they exist and didn't pick them, that decision is looking real bad.

I was never impressed with Cameron as Sens coach. Not impressed with him in this tournament either. He's obviously a capable coach, but he's the best option out there? Hard to fathom.
Congrats to the Americans. Terrible undisciplined play by the Canadians….they look
Always nice beating the Canadians

I will if win something for proving you wrong. Avatar bet?

Otherwise, there's no reason when you're somehow missing it all.

No one thinks Cowan should be carrying this team because no one thinks he's THAT good. Ritchie is an Avs prospect, the 1C and is a better player in the OHL than Cowan and I never once expected him to be carrying Canada.

He has been, as has the rest of Canada. So why is he being singled out? Exclusively him. Mostly by fans of other Canadian teams.

He got singled out at the moment where he took a really dumb penalty with a few minutes left in a one goal hockey game. That tends to happen when you have a high profile f*** up

Sure, but an elite prospect doesn't make him generational. Max Domi was an elite prospect at the world juniors too. Among lots of other players.

So do you want to make an avatar bet where if I find someone blaming him for this tournament - you'll change your avatar. If I don't, I will.

You seem pretty confident with your no one statement.

Cowan isn't the only player at fault here. Look he's been bad I admit it too. But he's not the only guy.

Rehkopf took two dumb penalties, Ritchie, Pinelli and Mynio as well took dumb penalties.
Catton and Mckenna combine for 2 points through 4 games.
Yager has been invisible for a guy who's wearing the C.

Our coach constructed a team without guys who should be there in Yakemchuk, Sennecke and Misa.

I agree with most of what you said, but that's too much to put on McKenna's shoulders right now. He's 17 years old (and freshly turned 17, to boot) playing in a 19-year-old tournament. There is no scenario where we should expect him to be leading the way for Team Canada. Even kids penciled in to be stars in the NHL tend to struggle in this tournament at that age.

Wtf does blaming him for this tournament even mean?

I'm sure you can find that post but your claim was that every page in this thread had a post saying Cowan was supposed to be carrying team Canada but sucks.

No it wasn't. You jumped into a conversation and created that argument yourself.

People have said the reason Canada is not undefeated right now is because they're playing (or picked) Easton Cowan... in this thread. Which is what I was criticizing.

I'm not sure if you even know what you are trying to argue about at this point lol

I criticized Cowan because it was deserved at the time. Making one post about Cowan does not mean I think others are undeserving of criticism. There's a lot to not like about this edition of Team Canada
