Theres something phoney about the intensity of this game, its almost like they are fighting each other and not liking each other because that whats they are supposed to do, rather than a genuine hatred. Like a child hating a neighbour because the parents dont like each other. Maybe im wrong, but it feels...forced.

Phoney? I don’t think these guys like each other. Look at the rosters, team USA isn’t filled with CHL guys. It’s mainly NCAA guys. It’s all about pride, both countries players want to win and want to be known as the best. Also there is def some lingering tension from previous U18’s and the Ivan Hilinka’s.

Any hockey tournament without Russia is World Cup Soccer without Argentina
Feels something is missing and lacking

I mean what's not to like about Kazakstan
There's whispers this year or next may be the last without Russia but who knows how politics will shape up in the future, especially with Putin jr here in the US.

You'd typically say "easy to say in hindsight" but it's tough to argue that the armchair GM's were right from the start regarding the selections for the team this year.

Tons of high end skill left off the team this year and it certianly shows.

So HC notoriously ignores Canadian talent in the NCAA for WJC, with a lot of talent heading to NCAA in the near future wonder just how much that will have to change.

Imagine if we had Cristall, Sennecke, Hage, Parekh, Yakemchuk

I hope HC is happy with this roster full of useless Curtis Lazars and the dinosaur coach pick.

Even the fact that they left of Matthew Wood off this years roster when he had a ton of goals in last years tournament is mind boggling. Cayden Lindström?!

To be honest I don't see a ton of it on the U.S team either aside from the very top guys. A solid team would be giving them a game right now. I think we are making them look better then they are.

Issue is -- The top end guys on Canada look just as mediocre as the rest of the team.

USA may not be great relative to previous years, but there is some creativity there which Canada clearly lacks.

Well I'd say that Canada dictated how that period would be played. Which means few chances for USA, but also no chances for Canada. Also little chance of entertainment for the viewer.

USA deserves the one goal lead. Canada did a good job, except for one obvious slip up, of sitting on rush opportunities, which is probably the key. Well, other than generating shots that are not bad angle shots from distance.

Americans have hit two posts which don't count as shots they haven't really gotten much on goal but what they have has been dangerous
yeah thank tips....watch the highlight of the goal they just showed, US had 2 sog and the first shot hits the goalie in the chest, there is a rebound which leads to the goal, us shots after the goal/that play 2........its not a big deal but some like to use sog as a means to say "team x is outshooting them"....when actually they are not.....I really don't care but the US doesn't only have 5 sog

I am not sure if there was a guy that could drive offense on this team the way they are being coached honestly. Well actually Cristall to me is probably the most egregious omission because he had the chance too.

Politics is not my thing. But I remember North Korea playing in World Cup back in 2010. They also competed in Olympics this year
But but Russia is banned in everything

Cool story

I hope they get back. Those young kids have nothing to do with war. They should be playing

Back to hockey

Absolutely, Hage, Boisvert, Wood all come to mind immediately of guys who should have at least got a camp invite. They need to go back to having a bigger camp and getting a good look at guys before the tournament. The new way while better logistically, it leaves room for guys who are playing well to be missed.

Why does TSN insist on picking a dumb country pop song to play coming back from every single commercial break the entire tournament? They’ve done this for a few years now. This years is especially awful
